Franchises for sale

Established food franchises like the ones you mention plus Mcdonalds et al are fantastic businesses they are one of the few types of biz with enough profit to eventually sit back and manage from a distance BUT ..... you must go and work in one for at least 3 months to find out if the work suits.

In the early stages you will be chief cook and bottle washer and need to know all the little wrinkles the staff will pull also (and most importantly) you need to know if self employed status suits you.

If you can get the loot go for it - someone retiring and selling their established franchise is best particularly if it's a bit run down with scope for improvement. Fingers crossed for you mate.

(the other established and growing industry is Courier work many of the top names are franchises - same comments as above)

For the OP, I currently work for a franchisor in the States and have seen both successes and failures. Here's some advice:
First, I would think deeply about where your interest lies. In the first year or two, you can expect working well over 40 hours a week and I've seen many people take shortcuts or lose interest and lose their shirts. Then, I would conduct some research on opportunities in your field of interest. Fast-food places came up frequently in this thread and you'll want to assess your earnings potential, start-up costs, royalty rates, terms of the Franchise Agreement, etc. For example, Subway is somewhat notorious in the States for market saturation. Once you consider a specific opportunity, you will attend a seminar and, by law in the States, receive a Franchise Disclosure Document, which includes a sample FA, procedures, list of current/former Franchisees, etc. At this point, you should really be crunching the numbers in your business plan and contact former and current franchisees to see what their experiencehas been before signing the Franchise Agreement.

If you've got what it takes to run a business then surely you should try and start one yourself rather than running a McDonalds outlet? The rewards will be greater in every way - and as said it's not like the franchise route is low-risk or easy to get into anyway.

A GOOD Chippy will always make you money, you'll stink like.

THIS FFS!!!!!!!

A proper Fish n Chip Shop, good food, done right, no cutting corners and portion sizes that people want.

Local chippy at home has been run by the same people for 30 years, people drive for miles to it. They throw you the odd freebie if your a regular, and they even have give you a couple of slices of free buttered bread if you buy a large chip to make a butty (like the way chinese give you prawn crackers).

Certain franchises you get in fairly low. There's literally millions of duds out there though. Some fella who had a decent stand alone business thinking it could go global and roping a few soft types in.
