I keep reading that we're known for turning on our managers but in all cases in the last 7 years every manager has deserved all the criticism thrown at them because they've all been found to be inept in a number of different ways from inability to set up a defence, to not playing enough youth through unbelievable optimism and stubborn arrogance. All managers except ancelloti who left for a better gig deserved all of the criticism (and after his last half season he didn't have long before he was going to be called out). My basic point is we as a fanbase have not turned on managers unecessarily and if we see a manager who can change a team to cover for obvious deficiencies we will support them and more importantly will be supported from the start of their career here. This might change in the case of Pereira after the SSN meltdown.
They were quickly turning on serial champions league winner Carlo before the best club in the world fancied winning another title and saved him from us. Had these losers missing out on Europe on the final day. A win at Anfield.

We get everything. And I mean everything we deserve.

Would it have been tolerated hiring paisley, shankley or Dalglish in the 80s in the same way we just hired benitez and many, not only tolerated, but made claims we were lucky to have him and how amazing he is?

Makes no odds what would or wouldn't have happened in the 80s, we need a manager who will get us some results, and if Lampard can do that, then so be it.
Kevin Sheedy mate.

Check mate.

I am working on the premise that if this Everton board has interviewed you for the managerial position you are‘nt right for the job. Absolute omnishambles this club. After the other candidate made an absolute tit of himself, half- cut from raiding his mini bar while bored and holed up in a hotel room, Lampard immediately became the lesser of 2 evils.

I don't think Lampard can also.

I don't mean about the job. I mean some scouser defacing our stadium with such a name.

I get what you're saying but i think he would have been safe the next season because we had at least competed at the right end of the table but the football we were playing especially for that last half season was absolutely dreadful and if supporters had been in the stadium he would have rightly been given grief because it was that bad.

What concerns me most about Lampard is the defensive side. Chelsea had a very soft centre and shipped plenty of goals that he didn’t seem to have a clue how to stop. Tuchel came in and immediately made them far more disciplined and tightened them up from the get go. I’ve seen a lot of comments from Derby fans over the last few days complaining of the exact same thing.

Given our obvious defensive frailties this season, this makes me extremely uneasy. Even Benitez who is known for being a good defensive coach couldn’t get our lot to stop shipping goals. Dunno if I can be @rsed going through another Martinez situation yet again
I was thinking exactly the same thing maybe he could bring John Terry in as a defensive coach was highly thought of at villa under dean Smith

Chelsea fan here very much in peace.

One of my best mates travels from down here in the SW to every one of your home games so whilst I clearly won’t be suffering it pains me to see just how much your current predicament is impacting on him.

I like all long term Chelsea supporters have been through the fear of relegation and yep relegation itself so I know how it hurts and whilst I would snigger if certain clubs, certain supporters were in the position you find yourselves that’s certainly not how I feel about you lot.

Of course all clubs make massive mistakes when appointing managers. Some just stand out as complete madness. We have a history of that having given the gig to the likes of AVB and well quite a few others they just weren’t a fit and even when some of those strange appointments delivered silverware such as Di Matteo and yes Benetiz you just know they weren’t a long term a fit.

I watched your game against Villa. It was abundantly clear to me , yep an outsider, that there is no way that Ferguson will get you through the problems you face. No doubt he will stir things up but the tactical awareness and indeed experience clubs like Burnley, like Newcastle, Watford and yes even Norwich is something at this stage of the seasons something you will need in bucket loads as much as anything because the majority of your players are for them in unknown territory.

Frank given the blank canvas that comes with start of a new season would be fine for you.The ore season would enable him to get players. In and instil his ideas.
His style is refreshing and there is no doubt you would be far more of a threat going forward but you would be sacrificing defensive shape and sorry but at this point in time I can’t see he is the answer for you in this critical last third of the season.
I haven’t a clue who you should go for as manager . Personally I think you need an interim appointment
Ironically the likes of big Sam would hit the ground running but with his history and indeed your owners confused approach to on field matters I suspect he isn’t even being talked about

Couldn’t agree with this more,

Ronal Koeman is a certified Moon Head, no doubt about it - but I will never forget the bemused look on his face early into his last season here when we were booing them down the tunnel when we were drawing at half time, he had the look of a man that was coming to the conclusion ‘yous lot are meffs’ and it went downhill from there.
