I think he has two sides mate, i think he sometimes slips and enjoys being one of the lads, but otherwise i think he can be very much a disciplinarian, work rate, putting it in training, fines etc.

Before he came here, i read one or two Harry Redkapps books where he talked of being a player at WHU - its fascinating listening to him talk of Frank Sr. and his work ethic, how he traied twice as hard as anyone and was doing things outside the normal training framework back in the 60s. He said he limited talent but maximized it. He talked about how he got a hold of young Frank and was doing exactly the same with him, Frank then went on to that himself as a player, you can see that now in him as a manager - he demands work ethic and people maximize your talent, but he also has that light, personable one of the lads side - that has pro and cons and imaging we will see it less and less as he gets older, but spirit and identity wise it might be what we need right now.

Said it the other month mate, I think we absolutely fluked out on getting literally the perfect manager for us at the perfect time.

Coming on the bs k of the waiter, the emotional rollercoaster of the last month of the season, I think it's done the Ball thing of making a connection with the fans/club and him, it'll buy him so much more time - which as a young learning manager is gold dust in the modern game.

I think back to Howard and Moyes, the lady two managers who we gave that too - both young and inexperienced relatively at the time, both 'could' and maybe 'would' have been sacked by a lot of other clubs but we didn't and in both cases it proved decisive giving them the time.

Ibe also not heard for the first time him talking about the 'project' repeatedly, and funnily enough I think he's actually the only manager we've had who actually does see this as a genuine project to turn the club around and get it back to being sble to compete

We have the perfect man here for were we are I think he did the hardest part of this job last season fixing the fanbase and goodison on a match day

The rest is easy its just about the 24 players not 40000 fans

Absolutely mate, great points. Hes a developing manager to my mind mate and you know we might be right for each other at the moment, he has a lot of + points, i think hes a good man manager, i think he gets the best out of players, he improves players - what he got out of Iwobi is incredible. Like you say he was canny enough to make the connection with the fans and get it all going in the one direction.

I think hes still a bit tactically naieve at times and i think he needs a bit more in game experience in the PL, game management, big picture - over a season etc.

I think we accept that and build and grow together because i think hes on an upward trajectory - im really curious into how he does this summer in building and balancing the squad.

What we need to acknowledge is we are going to loose 3-4 games on the trot at some stage, maybe even get stuffed by Mordor. Instead of pilling the pressure on we need to back this manager despite the adversity and there will be some, he needs leaving alone for three years minimum. The absolute worse thing that could happen for us would be to pull the trigger on him and reboot again and there will be shouts for it, this season, when he hit a bad patch, this game changes fast and fickle.

Concur completely mate, we keep chopping and changing then it's a downward spiral that will only end up in one way, the club going down.

Times come for us to hitch our horse to the Lampard wagon and just go for it and ride out the bad patches
I think s big plus is Thelwell and him seem to work well together so he'll be backed up.

Watch Howard's way absolutely brilliant film not just because it's everton but for the insight into Howard's psych

Nobody was more one of the lads than Howard but as all the lads said they knew he was ruthless at the same time and who was in charge

If frank has that in his locker
Then christ we have struck gold

Just for the sake of argument, what season did we play worse than last season? Even disregarding being in relegation position the last 2 months I cant remember the last time we looked so disjointed.

50% of our won games was because of Richarlison. He is now gone. I dont subsribe any of the we will be better than last season. With him gone it remains to be seen who steps up. Dele is good, but is he a richy replacement? I dont think so.
Last season was awful, no doubt, it was laid out in front of us. However, the injury list was completely insane and any club would have struggled as we did.

However, I feel that the squad is better than the position we ended up in. Losing Richarlison is a blow, but players like Dele, Patterson and DCL hardly played last season but will be big players for us this season. Add to that Tarkowski and McNeill who both look like good additions. We have added proper cover at LB and are clearly looking at bringing some U23 lads through this season.

I think we have been in worse positions with the squad than we are right now. Last summer was probably the lowest point. I’m more optimistic this year.
