2021/22 Frank Lampard

It's too early for me to be convinced we have a good manager on our hands. Frank has not got that many years experience under my belt. But I want him to succeed so much not just because that means Everton succeeds, because in that respect I want every manager to be successful when managing us. I Just think that Frankie boy being successful here would be such a bigger positive for the club than had any of our previous managers over the last few years had success. The profile that Franks success would bring to our club would be far greater

I really don't care about anyone thinking about Frank's history at Chelsea and Derby.... I really really don't give two hoots.

He's got us playing POSITIVE football.

If we played like that today and lost 3-0 I'd be happier than any of FSWs wins.

All we ask is desire, effort and try to score goals. He'll win some and lose some, but at least we are not paying to watch a match where the goal is not to lose and hope for some lucky breaks

I think when he was a player for Chelsea that was his and their play back then.
I think teams are often a reflection of their manager. Lampard is a confident man whose aggressive (not in a dirty way) in his approach to the game. That was Everton on the pitch today.
It's a collective focussed aggression that is still fair. Our glorious 69/70 team had it in spades. We haven't really had it since Reidy, Gray, Ratcliffe, Southall and the boys though. With it comes an expectation of victory. I've missed that swagger and so have Everton.

Everything looks like a veiled comparison when you are in the fog of obsession

No obsession here, i wasnt around for whatever you were posting under the last guy. I just know what im seeing in these threads last couple weeks.

The other poster kindly went finding posts from you which, whatever you may claim, are clearly referencing one manager to fan the flames. Your point about the players being crap whatever the manager is not that unique or interesting that you need to keep referencing it

You come across as extremely annoyed that you were wrong about something and are trying to brush it off by trolling

If you are somehow being genuine then i cant understand how you cant see you are prolonging this tedious topic in these threads.

On topic. Lampard has had a decent start. Goodisons been noisy and happy. Thatll do for now, but ive still zero idea if he will do well overall for us so wont get overly excited (unless we see an early summer surprise clear out of players)

Laughable

At least we can agree on your last paragraph, even if the rest of what you have written is utter wham

Weve agreed on a lot in the past, and im sorry that you think my reading of your posting these last couple weeks is laughable and wham. You seem extremely tetchy on this topic in general IMO

What I find annoying is that if you read my posts all the way back through Lampard, Benitez, Ancelotti, they’re of a similar theme

That the players are not good enough, they undermine managers, our injury record is not good enough, and our recruitment is poor. I’ve wanted continuity in all three managers (and I will with Lampard) to give someone time to sort these problems out.

So when i see posts making out that a home win has somehow sweeped away problems that Benitez ‘created’ it just reinforces this point, it’s just the cycle repeating itself. We’ll get lulled into the false sense of security, that these players are good enough, they’ll stay over the summer then when Lampard is struggling next season the same people will want a change in manager.

I’m pointing out that we won’t see real improvement unless a lot of players are moved out in the summer and we won’t know it’s stuck unless we see improvement beyond 12 months. Otherwise we’ll see the same pattern that occurred under Koeman, Allardyce, Silva, Ancelotti, and yes Benitez.

Pointing out these realities doesn’t mean I don’t want Lampard to do well or I’m trying to compare him to Benitez. I’m not. The people who wanted Benitez out denied the severity of the underlying issues at the club at the time and if they think one home win means this cycle won’t repeat as it has for the last five managers then they’re denying the severity of these issues again.

If we don’t turf the core of these players out in the summer, recruit well, and keep our best players fit next season. Then what has happened for the last five managers will just happen again.
