2022/23 Frank Lampard

@Nymzee

This is just one of the many comments I was talking about. I actually can’t tell if they’re serious or not.

I personally think we’ve got kopites here pretending to be blues and posting that kind of stuff to make us look like idiots.
If you think I am a kopite you need to look at previous posts I have put on, what is it you don't understand about the post?

I have been thinking the same...everywhere up to the forwards looks to have quality and effectiveness.

Where we 'fall down' is the front 3 in comparison with the top sides.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin / Gordon / Maupay / Rondon / Gray / McNeil

If we can move Rondon + Gray on next summer then with the Kean money and moving out other deadwood we need to bring in 2 more wide attackers.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaving would mean a lot more to spend.

Lampard is untouchable. Id happily back him long term.
We're still building in fairness. Some of the players in that squad only came in as late as summer 84. Plus Frank us still learning the managerial game of course.

But the shoots are evident is all I'm saying. Lots of work still to be done.

Whats your point exactly? that I have a sense of humour and you take everything on the internet so seriously?

I was tongue in cheek a lot when it came to Benitez - if everyone had just given the fella a fair chance without acting like cry babies from the minute he was appointed, demanding him sacked after a pre season defeat etc. I wouldn't have defended him as strongly as I did. One thing in life I dont like are angry Karens I love to see those types of people proven wrong.

Whereas you actually seem to want a relationship of some kind with Frank Lampard which is weird. You cant even say its tongue in cheek as 99% of fans are behind him and no one is demanding his head so you have no reason to act like a love struck simp.

You'll have a cardboard cut out of the fella soon like the Kopites have of the gurner.

This is precisely my position, too.

We haven't won a game yet - but we're now on the emotional rollercoaster. You can sense it. This is a dangerous moment for Frank. Dashed expectations can kill a manager.

A bad defeat at Arsenal next week, and some poor results against United and West Ham and Frank will be plunged into the relegation zone. The task remains what it was: get to the World Cup in a respectable position where, even if we are in trouble, we are most certainly not cut adrift.

Agreed.

Although I did feel on Saturday we could see the foundations for the first time. As much as the mutants are mutants, they’re one of the best teams in the world and it’s the first derby in a long time I’ve come out of Goodison and gone, we should have won that. We shouldn’t underestimate how good that was on Sat, we also shouldn’t forget how pointless it is if we don’t pick up wins when we should.

Take it what it was, a very good and promising perofmranxe and it’s great to be able to see the cogs mesh together, but still a distance to go which for me comes down to can people get goals and contribute.
Yeah this is it for me. It’s not about being negative or saying the aren’t plenty of reasons for optimism, there definitely are. We’ve been down this road many times before though (all the people pretending otherwise must have very short memories).

It’s possible that this is the start of something great, but the evidence is scant to be honest. Solidifying us as a top 10 side with its own identity would constitute a very good job by lampard over the next few years, I don’t think comparisons with Kendall and talk of something special brewing helps, because it would be truly extraordinary if he was able to do that and it becomes a millstone very quickly when people get it into their head.

Have the organisation and steel this season.

Bring in one or two difference makers next summer.

I think we'll set off then, like a rocket.

Need to find another Kanchelskis as the RS had done with Salah and Mane of course.

….was thinking about this and comparing the sides.

The defence (inc keepers) was comparable, perhaps not individually but as a unit.
Midfield was comparable, especially the three that finished for us.
Attack - the Reds much stronger and offer greater threat in the top third.

A lot different to last season & clear to me where we need to strengthen.

It'll be interesting what we do in January, do we try to get hold of a few we had interest in but couldn't get (Kudus, Pedro etc)

IF (big if) DCL can stay fit and we have Imo a long term squad player now in Maupay, Gordon, Gray (like Maupay a good squad option) if we do manage to retain all and add two more young options to them - then from back to front we have the possibility of the team developing to a point beyond whst we can recruit to.

No one bar the owner wanted him appointed, everyone gave him a chance when he was despite that, he did absolutely nothing to halt the slide we were on, sold our first choice left back for daring to ask to be more attacking, and completely fractured the bond between fans and players
