It's funny cause a loss yesterday and this place would've went into freefall.

Still a lot of work to be done, that was a really really poor West Ham side.
Not sure they’re a poor side tbh. They didn’t play well that’s for sure, but you could argue the way we were set up didn’t allow them to play well, particularly the way Gana, Onana and Iwobi went about their jobs!

They’ve won five in twenty-one league games according to the BBC, which is something I hadn’t recognised as thought they’d be a decent team.

Still, they’re a decent team, both physically and technically, and are well organised. It wasn’t one of our best performances this year, but we dug deep.

We’re not going to flamboyantly beat many teams this season, but grinding out wins and draws as we improved is an improvement.

Hopefully, the one win on the board will add the confidence needed to push on further, and beating the likes of West Ham is what we need.

Of course they’re not a poor side and they’ll comfortably finish top half this season and go far in Europe again.

The most important thing about yesterday was for the first time in a very VERY long time, Frank Lampard can say to the players against Southampton "play well here and we can move into the top 10".

Psychologically I think that will just lift a lot of pressure from the players as even though its early doors in the season, what a boost it would be to go and win against Southampton and get ourselves in the top 10 and looking up for a chance.

It immediately shifts not only the fans mentality where we've basically spent around the last 9 months looking down at the table, but the players will also get a real boost knowing the hard work and discipline is paying off.

We look solid if unspectacular but small steps needed and the constant crumbling, getting back to being very hard to beat were the absolute priority and that's where he's got us to currently.

A definite tactic used in the game Iwobi & Onana smothered Paqueta & Rice in midfield . On the odd occasion they got through Gana just mopped it up.

Moyes could see this as he brought 2 more wide men in Benrahma & Cornet , on the whole our full backs dealt with them too.

Great to see tactics work on the field.

We'd have lost the game last season.

I'm hoping the win and clean sheets give the confidence to kick on. Would be nice to win a game by more than one goal, but baby steps.
