Thats a fair point. But it happens. Gerrard, Ferguson, (D), Keane, Bruce, etc etc etc got jobs cos of their names. If they do well, all good. I happen to think that Lampard has displayed some encouraging signs that he doesnt think of himself as "Frank Lampard", he is a young manager who is learning from stuff at Derby and Chelsea, has embraced the club, and is getting a tune out of a squad.

You're right, but that first step was because he's Frank. John Lundstram isn't getting a job managing a championship side as his first coaching role.

Took a team that yo-yo'd in Norway and turned it into a dominant team in that league that is competitive in Europe with some of the best sides in the world.

What I'm really saying is hire a manager who is qualified based on his management. To me, blind CV, Frank wasn't.

In the future I'd prefer a better process.

Lampard has finished higher as a PL manager than any other manager we’ve had bar Moyes in the PL era. He got CL with Chelsea. We’ve also sacked every other manager we’ve had since Moyes.

We're also not able to find anyone outside of the most obvious candidates

Never heard of John. Of cause, he got his jobs cos of the name. If he fails it will be because he isnt all that. He knows that. (See Bobby Charlton, Alan Ball, plenty of legends who never quite made the grade).

It also works the other way, if we’d have got someone comparable to Lampard who was foreign, our fans would be drooling. He finished higher as a PL manager than Silva and Koeman, yet they were backed and definitely not deserving of the job at the time.
