If he was sacked tomorrow i wouldn't be upset.

Wolves will beat us and City will pump us something rotten then everyone will say he needs to go.

Get rid now I say.
In a normal year you'd maybe have a case for letting him stay awhile and seeing if he can make improvements. I wouldn't make that case but it might be there.

Not this year. You've got a second preseason and it just doesn't make sense to give him another couple weeks on the other side just to determine what is at this point the most likely outcome.

We do do that, because teams are happy to let us have the ball when we're chasing a game because they know we run out of ideas. We do this, we run out of ideas. We did it under Carlo, under Silva, under Bentiez, every manager.

The first 15 mins today we looked sharp. Yet nothing comes of it because it falls down in that final third, and that's down to a lack of quality.

Then after that, I do believe there isn't enough knowledge tactically from the manager/coaches and then talent on the field to change games.

But we are not trying to play possession football in the sense that it's possession for possession's sake. It's just that teams - two teams play the game, remember - are happy to let us have the ball if they have a lead, because they know the players up top offer nothing (zero threat, zero movement). Again, it comes down to that mate. There's just nothing up top so when we go long it comes back, and then we try to work our way through but nobody drops into space to receive the pass so we go sideways and then lose it. It ALL boils down to those shocking players up front.

In regards Thelwell, I think he had a ton to do in the summer and he, like Lampard, needs/needed time. I get it, but him and the board were not proactive enough. We had limited funds to change an entire squad, but this team doesn't have goals in it, which means we're struggling to play badly and win, obviously, whereas other teams with goals in them can eek out those results.
If we are going to be successful in attack then we need to be able to counter attack properly and we need to be direct and physical.

To have 65% possession and do nothing with it shows we are not direct enough and also not brave enough to play between the lines.

We had opportunities today to play better passes forward and instead turned inside or back.

I think the slow possession based passing is obviously the gameplan because we've seen it too often now not to be. The manager spoke about being aggressive and direct but ever since we've only had passive and lethargic.

He signed 3 midfielders rather than forwards. This is on him. And the 3 players we signed in midfield are bang average too, which makes it far worse. Not 1 goal from them all season - thats almost impressive in mid November.

I was all in on him but I've lost all faith. I never thought I would see him make 11 changes and I never thought I would see this level of incompetence tactically. I dont think sacking him solves much but I dont see any way back for him either after today.

I wanted him to be a success , despite initial reservations , but I think that this may now have come to endgame.
He simply appears to be naieve , and inflexible. I note the paralells with Martinez there !.
The similarities continue with the slow / pedestrian movement of the ball forward , and an obsession with
possession , rather than action.
I think that the fatal point for him , was the (understandable) actions of the long suffering and amazing away supporters today. I see no way that his position is acceptable any longer , whether the angst was aimed at him , the players , or both.

There’s a high probability we get beat by Wolves. Then it’s City where we’ll get bummed. Then Brighton who have all the tools to annihilate a team like ours. Then it’s Southampton. Imagine losing that one.

Point being why wait around. It’s inevitable we sack him anyway.
