It's not when you take his record while he has been here, results are dire, football is awful, game after game either one shot on goal or none.
Played 38 competive games
Won 12 lost 19
I would love him.to Succeed,
but he has shown absolutely nothing to suggest he will do.
Other than we can't keep changing managers arguments, I can't see a single thing to say he shouldn't be under pressure.
Hope he proves me wrong but we are in for a rough ride if he carries on the same way as he has done up to now.

There is all you say but happen the players should get their fingers out to help.

I am firmly in the pro Frank camp and not just because he is a nice guy

I think there’s alot of Stockholm syndrome with some of our fans in regards to Management…

I think its safe to say Moyes, Roberto (until the end of his second season) and Carlo were the only really heavily supported managers we have had in the last 20 odd years

But even the great Carlo Ancelotti, with a firing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a creative James Rodriguez and Lucas Digne was in free fall towards the end and we were fortunate to scrape 10th

You need a serious reality check if you think that a manager whether it be Zidane, Guardiola, Klopp, Galtier or whomever could walk into the club and just have some magic philosophy that would turn the club around

We are a bottom half football team and the quicker that realisation comes the better off you will feel- not defeatist because i don’t think its permanent…but it is the situation

Since the last time we consistently challenged for europe on a regular basis i have had a kid and that kid has grown up and gone through school… literally a life time ago

The big magic takeover hasn’t provided the expected results and here we are

In Frank we have a manager who has brought together a world class staffing team with him and has recently been joined by a highly rated football director who hasn’t been given much time to work yet

The short memory of fans continues when you don’t consider the post Carlo months, Everton fans were literally fighting each-other, the club was fractured hate and anger was over flowing at every turn

Frank settled that, and quickly invested in the culture of the club, he is the solid baseline, he is also not going to run at the next opportunity that comes knocking… he wants to build a legacy…

His financially restricted transfer windows saw him bring in stop gaps to a horrendous midfield in Donny and Dele… not the best players in the world but Donny was solid and a good ball distributor and Dele changed the Palace game… this got us through relegation

He then shored up the defence provided depth to the midfield and has some squad player level forward options

To think he would be able to buy an entirely new team in one window again is nothing but foolish

Dom has turned into an absolute sick note and needs shifting as soon as possible… Gordo’s head was turned and the pressure dialled too high for his capability of handling it… and we don’t play the right football to make the most out of Maupay who i feel is more aligned to the Cahill role than upfront…

I had the pleasure of having a really good talk with him and truly believe him when he told me that there has been non stop on depth work being done to ensure we bolster the clubs attacking power in January

Vs Palace we saw how he wants to play, and to be honest thats how we want Everton to play, yes Palace weren’t great, but intense pressure football with distribution equal through the middle and wings and a finisher slotting home, a sured up defence that is only really susceptible on the counter which is the risk you take pushing high…

Thats my 2c anyways

Nice that you got to meet him. We are the worst team in the league under nearly every metric, though. Two things you mention there also is that Gordons head has been turned and we don't play the right football for Maupay. Both managerial decisions. No other club in the PL would take Lampard if he failed here, and I think that shows his level.

Fantastic post mate, thanks very much.

Equally ridiculous only being 15 games into a season

I am not in the Frank out camp - so just caveating what am about to say.

Its not ridiculous when statistically we are one of, if not the worst team in the league. The football we play isn't great, the set up at times is crazy and Franks subs leave a lot to be desired.

Ive said it a few times after watching some of our games back, we either have a set of players doing tools or Frank can't get them to play how he wants - this whole Onana pushed up leaving massive holes in midfield is near suicidal every game.

In the summer Frank bought himself some time, but I am 90% certain that if we doesn't beat wolves on Boxing Day that pressure might burst.

I like Frank, I like how he has tried to get as much as the club as possible, but it doesn't work if results aren't going his way. He needs to change that and quick.

There is all you say but happen the players should get their fingers out to help.
That's certainly true, they should take responsibility as well , it's not as if we are short of leadership quality among them supposedly.
Not giving him a forward at least is not his fault either .
Not all down to him at all ,
he is inexperienced and needs help which he clearly isn't getting, bit unfair but the buck will stop with him when it comes down to it.

Nothing really to do with Lampard but when was the last time we scored direct from a free kick?
Interesting question. Off the top off my head, I'm gonna go ahead and guess it certainly wasn't once with our £45m Icelandic "dead ball specialist" [according to every oxygen-wasting, insufferable pundit that spews out clueless, cliched dribble soundbites from one week to week].

Already been answered mate, Digne at Lincoln in the Cup

Really enjoyed reading this post, I have to say! Very measured, very level-headed, a well thoughtout take and a very good assessment IMO (plus, you can barely see the 3439673 creepy crawlies in the grass that can probably kill you in an instant with one bite).

The bit about Stockholm Syndrome made me chuckle - I'm sure a pre season friendly against those guys is as close to Europe as we'll be getting for a while. Not sure I've ever heard Thelwell described as "highly rated" before (must have missed where we fought off Barca and Bayern for the signature of the bloke from New York Rovers); and no idea where you've gotten 'world class staffing team' from: Ashley Cole is a newbie and Clement -whilst experienced- has never really shone anywhere.

But I don't want to nitpick - I think you make a good point about Maupey (he could actually might be pretty useful in that Cahill role tbf). Twas a good post, and a very enjoyable read of a first-hand account from the Down Under Tour. Makes a nice change.

3+ decades of a repeating pattern of mediocrity and inconsistency don't convince me he should be. Two or three "above avg" years doesn't wash the other 28. It starts to though, sadly, when you're accustomed to ?.

It's a serious existential issue when a club can't live up to standards it set in the past (we do know who didn't set those standards, though)...look at the freak-out at United since SAF and some of his staff took their leave, for example. Imagine being invested in that joke, considering they have far less reasons for their recent struggles. Some might want to reference SAF's time there as some sort of example of it's "all about the manager" but then fail to acknowledge how much that whole situation was an exception to the rule; preceding managers proving that fact.

You need good people in a good environment...after all this time, I have a problem thinking the latter is true.

But, whatever...opinions, etc.

Is right Ash. People who want shot of the manager at the first sign of trouble are exactly why we ended up without a philosophy at the club. Just a group of mercenaries picking up a paycheck.

Lampard looks as though he has limitations and therefore may not end up being the one that takes this forward to where we want to eventually be (although absolutely he could grow into that), but he is the right person to imprint an ethos into the club at the moment and then we can re-evaluate in a few years time.

He is this generation's Moyes, he just faces a bigger task as the gap between the bottom 14/15 clubs is so small it is harder to make a huge difference. That's before we mention the absolute state of our injuries and the fact the referees have had it in for us. A few different decisions and we could be comfortable in the table now.

I’m sorry, but if anyone does have Stockholm Syndrome then it appears to be you.

Lampard’s record at Everton is God-awful, it’s literally the worst record since Mike Walker. It’s got so bad that the odd win here and there is seen as some kind of great achievement.

And yet your love for him is palpable. He’s such a ‘great guy’ that he’s got you describing Donny Van de Beek as solid FFS.

Nice to see everyone still riled up when we’re not even playing.
