The rumor is fake, Adu has been starting for Aris in the Greek league, who will be playing in Europe this summer, and will remain on loan from Benfica. It's a travesty that he won't be at this years World Cup, as he's still our most talented player, but he made some really stupid decision this year which put him off the team.

Not even close.

Unfortunately its become like a badge of honor for some American soccer fans to put down Adu after all the hype. (For the same reason that Donovan was the most hated U.S. player by a lot of fans for a looong time. Ie: calling him Landycakes and saying he was no good when hes been our best player for 8 years)

Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion(s), but imo there is no other U.S. player with the ability do this to Brazil (against the Brazillian U20 team Pato, Jo etc as an 18 year old.)

or the way he broke down Spain, Netherlands etc.

P.S. it's annoying that one can't put compilations of Donovan vs Chelsea or Man Utd on youtube :\

Well I don't wear that badge and happen to like Freddy Adu.

Unfortunately, those who make the decsions feel that there are other players in the USA National Team pool who help us have a better chance of winning than he does.

Doesn't mean it can't change but it isn't looking good for him.

Adu is a great talent (only Landon is more talented) however he is selfish and constantly runs out of position. He was able to get away with it up to say 18 years of age but real pros (even in the MLS) figure him out in 15 minutes. He's a nightmare for his own defensive teammates. Nobody is better at creating a scoring chance on the counterattack for the other team. If he ever learns stay on the wing he'll play in the top division of a good European league.

EDIT: Playing in the lower leagues of any club probably won't help Adu's game any. There are similarites to Landon and Adu. The problem was/is all in their heads and nothing to do with their respective footie skills. Landon's was the fact that he was soft and for a while I think he didn't like football. Adu's is that he refuses to be a team player.

Looking pretty good for him at the moment as he's likely to be starting in the UEFA Cup (UEFA Europa League) this summer. He's in a very good situation at Aris, it's a shame that it came so close to the world cup (18 month loan that started mid season in January) A few of his matches are on youtube in full showing all of his touches, he's looked quite good.

it was the misadventures in France and Portugal that put him out of this world cup, and the insanity last summer where it seemed like he had lost his mind making idiotic posts on twitter.

Pretty sure he'll be back in the USMNT picture right after the Cup.

His highlights have always been great. Its the mistakes that cause matches to be lost.

For example?

He was second in the Greek playoffs for crossing accuracy, they didn't track short passes, but I'm pretty sure he did well with that too.

Also you can watch all of his touches in full matches for Aris. Nick3f has them on youtube. I get the feeling I'm the only person in this thread who's watched him play in the past 10 months. Perhaps I'm wrong about that though.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the matches after the world cup. No point arguing over the unknown past or the future.

Also, it'll be interesting to see what happens to Michael Bradley's consecutive streak once his dad is no longer the coach. Especially with Jermaine Jones coming into the picture.

I'm not saying you were'nt watching the games.. But I'm saying that if you think he is the US's most talented player, than you dont know [Poor language removed] about US Soccer. .. I did watch the first half of his last Aris game.. He looked Horrible.. Lost possesion EVERY time the ball came to his feet, I was embarrased for him..
