From Blue to Green

I've been thinking about how we as a club can help meet the 2050 target for net zero. Should we be more green as a club?

For example Forest Green Rovers plans for a new stadium seem to be a step in the right direction. Link below:

Have we missed a trick with BMD to set another club first in terms of being green?

What else can we do to be more environmentally friendy? It may be the time for more drastic measures.

Some suggestions:

Recycling all players shirts to be reused for the next year.

Operate a bring your own reusable plastic cup policy for pints.

Request to only play daytime fixtures to reduce the need for floodlights.

Do away with player car parks and allocate bike stands only to encourage them to cycle to and from training and the stadium and allow extra days off for the longer away trip cycles.

Any other suggestions?
Bed.

Some great suggestions here.

I know there is talk of safe standing at BMD.

What about a portion of the safe standing section being for fans that walk to the game only? Reward them with cheaper tickets for being more environmentally friendly.

Another is ban all banners, flags, badges, scarfs from the stadium. That will cut down on the purchasing of these. So much wasted material for items that get put in a cupboard.

Stop cows grazing on Goodison Park.....oh sorry that's the first team.

The roof has lots of solar panels going by the drone videos and all building services now use low carbon refrigeration along with BMS controlled low power lighting.
Don’t think there was much more they can do.
What is the carbon footprint of the those drones? Maybe need to ban those. Multiple people everyday recording every nail and screw going in. Then the energy to recharge, edit and upload videos. They are a scourge.
