The Everton Academy have captured the signing of Crewe Alexandra's assistant academy director, Paul Bennett.

By joining Everton, Bennett has ended a nine-year association with the Railwaymen that has seen him grow into one of the finest youth coaches in the north-west.

It is not yet known what role the former Port Vale, Telford, Stalybridge and Northwich player will fill at the club.

brought some decent young talent through have crewe, they have a striker that is hot property currently, i forget his name, but crewe have a pedigree for spotting potential. lets hope this fellow (bennett) brings some of that excellence with him. its been missing since moyes and harvey fell out.

We need someone who can competantly bring the youth through the ranks and have them develop into Premiership players, vice the lower league crap we have been churning out (with few notable exceptions)

Finch farm moving ahead also. So we are a forward thinking club. Upfront costs may be higher but we will benefit from state of the art facility and now the appointment of excellent staff to train our Academy boys too. Excellent.

correct, if you bring the youth through properly then you can fill holes in your first team and have plenty of cash left over to splash on big time players.

I think you mean Luke Varney of Crewe, Suits. It should signal a step up in the youth management - we are now being provided with the best facilities for next season, too, which bodes well.
