Mourinho, who left for Real Madrid, led Inter to the Serie A title, the Italian Cup and the Champions League.

Inter are 13 points behind Serie A leaders and arch-rivals AC Milan and struggling for form.

"There are three possibilities for the club," said Benitez. "One, 100% support for the coach and buy four or five players to build a stronger team with competition among the players to be able to carry on winning matches and trophies.

"Two, carry on like this without a project, without planning, and go ahead with one person to blame, for the whole season.

"The third," he added, "is to speak to my agent to reach an agreement if there is not this support. Simple."

Inter president Massimo Moratti was less than impressed by Benitez's comments and said they "were not suitable for the situation" before adding it was "not the moment to ask for reinforcements".

Utterly priceless, all of that.

SOS are starting a ''Moratti out/Italians go home'' campaign.

I feel sorry for Moratti in a way. He's like Kenwrong with money
Passionate about the club. He's thrown good money after bad in pursuit of success over there. If it hadn't been for the scandal which saw Juventus relegated and Milan deducted points, I think he might never have won anything. Finally gets a manager who knows how to utilise his money and gets the big prize and the guy boggs off to Madrid. Then they end up with this plank

And still, they follow him like deluded sheep.

The fan is a fraud, I'm buzzing off him being found out. I'd love for him to retake his throne across the park so we get more emotional breakdowns, acute paranoia and misguided egotism in the media. He represents them very well indeed.

He bummed us in the derbies though, fair play there.

Well I must give some credit to Rafael. Inter's team really are getting old and he had some injuries.

Now, credit to where it is due... Benitez is a million miles away from Mourinho's ability.

I read once that Mourinho would be tempted to take over Liverpool to regain their 70's and 80's status. With the money Rafael had to spend over there, God saved us from having Mourinho on the other side of Stanley Park.

Indeed, God saved us all...we the evertonians.
