Yay, more debt just what we need. Let the greedy of the world drown in their debt I say, isn't that the way of a "free market"?

What's the point in giving the IMF money to 'encourage trade' when countries around the world are increasing trade barriers? Unfortunate that there was no mention of that.

encourage intrastate commerce perhaps?

and when many states are instituting their own bailouts, what's wrong with erecting trade barriers to ensure that their bailout dollars benefit domestic industry foremost (ie making sure bailout dollars in the US don't go towards subsidizing chinese steel)?

Read my post in the politico thread. Supply chains are global. America puts up barriers, so Britain does in return, and Mexico and China...

You see? America protecting itself will naturally make it harder for America to sell its stuff abroad because every other county will erect similar barriers to 'encourage domestic trade'. No one trades with each other and the problem gets worse and worse.

Not to mention that Chinese steel is used because it benefits the consumer. Use American steel, price of goods goes up, consumer loses. Of course no one really cares about the consumer, aka as the tax payer.
