Transfer Rumour Gabriel (Lille)

Played out at every single step.
It's not an Everton transfer until any excitement has been drained out of it.
Due to covid we may miss the usual sighting of a player in the city at least.

One day we may announce a player out of the blue.
Guarantee you come October we will still be waiting on one or two players I guess that's what we get for being an average team now.

Every Everton transfer seems to be a long drawn out process. Its tedious

What about the mcgeady transfer? We were linked with him on the Friday and he came bouncing out of the tunnel before the match the next day.

I mean he was absolutely dreadful and cost about a flim but still...

Seems true.
Or is it the same with other clubs, but we just don't follow them as closely? I mean if Man U are also interested in this fella then its going just as slowly for them isn't it?

I asked a spurs fan a year or so ago and he groaned and said yes they take forever.

For all we know our club could be pretty quick (which explains all the "buy in haste repent in leisure" signings).

Maybe but it would be nice occasionally for us to get a "bam" and it's done type signing.

It’s totally fair TBH. The cliques and targeting by certain posters are well known. You allow this to a certain extent because it’s a football forum. Whilst I Understand that it can be taken as banter I also think that it goes too far. It did with me and is why I withdrew my support for the forum unfortunately. I had conversations with the site at the time so you do know that this goes on.

It's like going to a swimming pool and complaining it's a bit wet.

The problem doesn't come from offensive posts. It comes from people far too easily taking offence at posts.
It amazes me that some people get upset by something that a complete stranger posts on an internet forum.
If you fall into that category then I would say you have a problem with the internet, not GOT.

Bernard was done within 12 hours of the first story linking us to him. Richarlison was leaked to the press when the deal was done and everyone was still crying about Malcom to Barcelona. Nkounkou was within an hour of the first story... dont remember about Branthwaite. Delph was a day or two. Sidibe was one or two days from the first story to announcement. Gbamin, Gomes and Kean were drawn out a bit.

We did that a few years ago. Remember Pickford, Keane, Klaassen, Sandro and Onyekuru?

Careful what you wish for lol

Yep - it would save all the tedious blather!
We forget as fans that it's all complex legal deals involving different agencies and involving private business these days so its going to take time. No longer is it Brian Clough going to some player's mum's house with a contract.

Add to that that 99% of transfer speculation starts with lazy media outlets having to sell copy or advertising clicks, then we find fans jabbering on for months talking about a potential signing that has taken forever when it only ever existed in the mind of some second rate lieing reporter.

I totally agree with this. Just ignore them. The only thing I would say though is that when they attack you for your opinion and you argue your point back it comes to a point where GOT staff members will warn you of your behaviour. Now if they warn the other poster that's fine. But with experience you learn to ignore them!

And all the conflicting reports and other teams coming in last minute when they havent really but have been leaked by the selling club to get us to stump up.
