Er no. But I’m guessing that in the middle of March when people had no idea what the hell was going to happen and the world was being completely locked down I’m guessing we probably thought it probably wasn’t a great idea to spend £25m plus wages on a player when we didn’t know if and when football would be feasible again.

I don’t know many businesses investing in capital during that period.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Imagine if we'd bought Gabriel then the league was cancelled and we had to give the tv companies their money back. Hindsight is great but at the time we had no idea how football was going to be impacted by a global pandemic, it would've been irresponsible to throw £20m+ around in that environment.

Technically the window never closes. The registration window opened last weekish.
