Sadly our whole midfield was that bad that even if he turns out to be a good buy I can't get too hung up, CM and RM just had to be the priority imo.
 
Less than 60 career games to his name, the lad has some arrogance.

Let's see what he is all about, hopefully we can all have a laugh in a few month's time.

Ancelotti really, really rates him. He told Napoli he was Koulibaly's ideal replacement...

Centre half isn't our most pressing need, but we had an academy lad playing there not so long ago.
 
Another mark against Brands - thank the Lord for Carlo sweet talking Allan and Rodriguez in otherwise we would still be chasing Doucoure with no other decent signing in mind.

Blokes losing my support.

His not an Everton player and has now signed for a rival club

Definitely looks to me that theyve gone for Gabriel as he seems to be the next centre back to come into the Brazil team with huge potential.

Then been in for Hojbjerg over Allan due to the far cheaper fee and age.

When neither of those came off weve switched targets to Allan + Doucoure while trying to get cut price deal for James and a loan to buy for Emerson.

Ive said a few times that the 2 players i wanted were Gabriel and Emerson. Not so much because theyre the most important positions at LCB and RB but because they are potentially super top end players for the long term.

Hopefully once weve sorted the midfield this window we can go for these types of 'future starts' in the coming windows.
