Gardener's Question Time

I have spring onions, tomatoes and chillis in a green house. All are sprouting at various speeds.

Should I be watering them more or less?

depends on if they are in a propagator or not, it's still early doors and there's still some frost about. tomatoes need drenching fully twice a day when bearing fruit.

OMG I have a tip!

Plant Marigolds in close proximity to try to put off aphids attacking the Tomato and Chilli plants. Wee aphids noses don't like the smell of the yellow Marigold flowers so don't go near.
Thanks mate, by a complete coincidence the wife has a huge marigold literally right next to them.

water only when they dry out - just to keep them moist as its still cold at night ..... When planted in there final pot you can grow Tagetes a fast member of the Marigold family to keep white fly away from your tomatoes ... a cold spell is coming soon so protect at night times ....

You want to take cat fur and some basil leaves and rub them together; then put this mixture on your face while using a trowel to scrape little scratches in the dirt at 90 degree angles from the base of the bush. Then, usually available at your local store, get Japanese pot-dorai loam--it has to be Japanese--and bring home and spread it out on a baking sheet and put it in the sun for 4 days. Then take the pot-dorai and fling it (don't flick, lob, or hurl--fling!) at the leaves about midway up from the stalks, just near each sepal. This will allow the cambium to "burn in" (as they say in gardening circles). You want to be wearing a sleaveless shirt while doing this. If you have any rusty garden tools to prune, use those instead of shiny new ones, as the iron filings get intercalated into the xylem and phloem and they will result in luscious bounty. Finally one trick that I learned while being the assistant to the manager at a local green house is to shove a popsicle stick (I think you call them ice lollies) into the root base, so as to stimulate the flow of secondary compounds. This makes the plant angry, which is good for chlorophytic ionization. Only water with vinegar or while you are intemperate and this should ideally only happen on Tuesdays. If you need any other advice, just reach out ot me.
