I think Barry could still play a part this year, but I dont see any spot for him next season if we are doing things properly. Its been good, but I think its his time to go, and let a younger player get the cup games that Barry would get.
He has had a full pre season at Everton and I think that he possibly saw that his opportunities would be limited at Everton this season.
I think older players need to be involved in games more to keep in condition to be able to perform and that was probably not going to happen at Everton , it could mean that his career could tail off very quickly.
I think a move like this can give him an opportunity to play reasonably regular football and he has earned that right.
He was a great signing, a great professional and it would have been poor of us to keep him at the club and not play him.
I think this decision is his and was welcome to stay and compete as well if that was what he wanted.

Another one of our excellent signings that I wish we could have got a couple of years earlier. There have been quite a few over the years. We definitely got more than we expected from him.
If Schneiderlin got injured, he is the only player who can control a tempo and give a calmness in the middle. I expected a few EL games from him this year, hopefully he's passed on some of his experience to Davies.

True, the lad had earned the right to choose what's best for him in the twilight of his career, every game will be precious to him.
...also, he still probably has very strong links with Birmingham having been at Villa for so long.
