I was a freshman in high school. I lived in the west suburbs. I remember getting one of my brother's friends to drive me (so long as I paid for his ticket). I think we were expecting tons of English Beat songs to be played, but if I recall correctly they only played one.
That seems right, and I think they had Corey Feldman as their warm up act, singing "I wear my sunglasses at night" over and over and over.

I was part of the student AV crew at Northwestern, so we got to be cheap roadies for the show.

Did you happen to catch the "Preconstruction" tour by REM, also in 84 I believe. I also saw them at McGaw as well.
