Geordie 1, Hull 2

I fail to see the reasoning why managers should be the sole people who determine how money is spent in the transfer market. Most managers don't get a chance to watch any matches outside the league they play for so why not have a director of operations?

Dennis Wise seemed to make 2 good transfers at the CB position for NUFC and got a ridiculous amount of money for Milner. What's so horrible about that? Look at Curbs transfers, he spent on like 40M on players more fragile than Samuel Jackson in Unbreakable, and then he wines when they get injured and continues to whine when he loses control of the transfer money. Christ, Curbs didn't even who the F--- Carlos Tevez was when he took over at West Ham!

Even Moyes, who has been as astute in the transfer market as anyone didn't really know what the hell he was doing when he dabbled in the 10+M market.

Dennis Wise is a tool. I have hated the little toe-rag ever since his playing days.

Either way Rook, the manager is the guy who puts the team together, so he should be the one who is picking the players, the Director of Football should only offer suggestions. He isn't the one who coaches or decides the tactics thats the managers, so they should have the say.

I say No to the globalization of football. The manager is the manager is the manager. The head mo-fo. The HMFIC.

I'm sure Wise is a tool, he's a Geordie after all. But you need someone to handle your scouting for you. There are too many leagues in the world that players come from for people to be seen.

Wonder why English players get sold for so much moola? Because that's the only players most managers see. Case in point Alan "I don't know who Carlos Tevez is" Curbishley. Granted he's a [Poor language removed] manager, but don't you think its not a consindence that he overpaid for all English players and/or players who played in the Prem? 65K a week for Neil? 85K for Lungberg? I could pick 10 players in the MLS that are better than Lungberg and would collectively play for 85K/week.

Plus a smart director of football would never buy a head case or someone who could never work for a manager. And a smart owner would pick never pick a director of football who couldn't work a manager.

Looks like the Geordies are in trouble, again :D

what a bizarre, side show they put on for the rest of the world.

Thing is, I think if Keegan had been left to get on with it, the team would be looking a decent bet for a challenge to a UEFA place.

Anoo, |Keagen was the heart of dat team

If this was any other club I wouldn't believe this, though nothing came of talks, Newcastle and Keegan are thinking about getting back together.

That I agree with which is why clubs have scouting networks. The personnel in the team are the managers responsibility. That is all I am saying.

I do find it amusing that teams like creating an extra position to pay a wage too. And credit to Dennis Wise, he can't be stupid as he has conned the skunks to pay him a massive salary for being a glorified scout.
