Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Substantially, he's scored a couple of goals and been a bit part player. Very selfish player too - if he continues that I cant see him winning many admirers amongst Barcelona teammates should he ever crack their first team.

I wouldn't be too devastated if he left, tbh. We'll get a good replacement in the summer.

In all fairness Dave, so was Ronaldo at United. Sometimes the skillful youngsters try to hard to impress, the extra step over, the shot when a pass would be a better option etc etc. That comes with age and experience, he's 19 so i'd reserve judgement till he's around 24/25 and see how much he has evolved.

You look at Rooney and Ronaldo, both blessed with extreme skill, at young age they try things because they know they have the skill, but don't look at the overall picture and better options available; now the pair of them are so integral to both team.

I miss Blue Rooney, he never developed that dribbling part of his game when he moved to Man U. He used to slalom past entire defences.

Granted, can't argue with the career he's had since...but the romantic in me does miss those wild mad skillz he used to show in the blue shirt. Great entertainment, if nothing else.

Probably, but the only thing that concerns me is what impact he has for Everton and we'll never have this kid more than a couple of seasons at most.

It'd be good to have him here, but what I'm saying is that he's raw and certainly not irreplaceable for us.

re Deulofeu : I have to say that there is a lot of bull**** conjecture, 'will he/,won't he be here next season' going on in this thread.

Nobody contributing to this forum has ANY idea as to the answer. So just let it rest (FFS!!) at : Gerald Deulofeu is on loan to Everton FC for the 2013/14 EPL season.

End of

It's getting boring listening to it all
To be fair mate, at a guess, I'd say any Everton related thread has 50% going over what's happened, and 50% speculation about what's going to happen.

I think it's already been confirmed that he's going back next season?

Exactly why we've got him for a season, to see if we can iron out the rough spots in his game. Ability wise he's streets ahead of Pedro, Tello, Cuenca and possibly Alexis Sanchez. It's the old decison making chestnut.

Heard quite a few people say he won't make it because he is selfish blah blah, they don't want him in our team but they scream Barkleys name.

I think the biggest impact he will have while here is his ability to put the opposition on the back foot; his fearless approach puts many a defender on edge and its nice to have a player who can the ball up and run past players with ease. I think having him in the squad will make the opposition managers think twice when setting up their team

Yes, it can be frustrating when there is a better option, but age and game experience will do him the world of good, unfortunately that's something Barca will benefit from

I agree with all that. It doesn't contradict my original point though that a good buy in the window next summer and we wont notice a hell of a lot of difference in not having him next season.

I'm sure Deulofeu will go on to become a top player once he learns when he should do what and where on the pitch. That's not our concern though.

Not conjecture to post a story from the club paper

At the beginning of the season, I would've guessed it being a 2 year loan but there's now no reason to believe his development shouldn't continue at his club, according to Tata Martino

...exactly mate, you "would have guessed".

The only fact that requires no guessing is that Deulofeu is here for one season.

fair comment mate. But from a personal perspective, I just want Del-boy to get fixed soon and return to the club he is contracted to for the current season (because our squad is looking a bit thin again right now....and he's very good).
