EVERTON will still pursue a permanent deal for Aaron Lennon despite moving to tie up a cut-price transfer for Spanish youngster Gerard Deulofeu this week.

Deulofeu spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Goodison Park from Barcelona, scoring four goals in 29 appearances.

The winger, 21, was farmed out to Sevilla last season, but remained on the periphery for the Europa League winners who were unhappy with his attitude.

That has allowed Everton to move in and Roberto Martinez is set to sign Deulofeu for just more than £3m. Everton ended the season with Lennon on loan and have harboured concerns that Tottenham will price him out of a permanent switch.

But Martinez is keen to sign Lennon and believes he will offer something different to Deulofeu.

If that happens I'll need to visit a hospital to do something about my 72 hour rager.
