Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Really annoyed about this signing. What we really need is more midfielders who pass and pass and pass and pass and never shoot or move with the ball at any kind of pace.

Don't worry Martinez is still looking for these types of players 24/7. The problem is he's hoarded so many of them already that it's becoming a more and more difficult task, but Roberto is doing a phenomenal job and told me he's in an incredible moment of taking information onboard.

It would not surprise me if Palace are interested in him. Bolaise sold for 15 million and Del to replace him.

Would be good business, use that cash for Cabaye.

Think they will have a good season Palace.

He's really enjoying his transfer windowing at the moment

He's really building towards the last 38th of the transfer window because that's when the deals will be decided. People shouldn't be worried about deals done now as they don't decide anything. It's about enjoying the transfer window so we can be strong in the last third, sorry quarter, sixth, game....

The thing about the buy back clause is he doesn't actually have to go even if Barca activated it. He's not a slave, he can refuse the transfer.

If he wants away from there now you'd think he'd only go back if there was a decent chance of him starting some games, which he's a long, long way off.

Can he say no though?

I mean, obviously if he doesn't want to go back I can't imagine Barca bringing an unsettled player into the ranks, but doesn't the ultimate decision lie with them?

By agreeing to the transfer, doesn't Delofeu essentially say "I agree to go back to Barca provided they bid a certain amount for me?"

I'm asking because I honestly don't know the answer. Can anyone shed some light?

If they were to buy him back they'd be buying him as a first team player.

He won't be saying no to Barcelona, no player would.

In all seriousness, why has this created such a buzz? I seem to remember that he caused me more fume than anything when he was here.

I haven't watched him in Spain, has he become less greedy, learned to cross the ball earlier and gained some composure in front of goal?

It's an area we're lacking in isn't it? Atsu and Lennon have gone back to Chelsea and Spurs. Mirallas seems on his way out, whilst Pienaar seems permanently crocked. That leaves McGeady as our only senior wide player.

Gerard may not turn out to be a world beater, but he's a) better than what we have at the moment, and b) better than anyone else we could probably get for the fee advertised.

Exactly, all it really does is agree a price if Barcelona ever wanted to buy him back. They don't continue to own him though. He's be under contract with us and so like with any transfer it would need both clubs and the player to agree to the deal. The only thing that would already be in place would be a fixed price lower than the market value that he presumably would be if Barcelona were interested in buying him.

He offers something different to what we already have. Look how well Lennon played when he came in, Deulofeu is a similar type of direct winger. Difference is he has the potential to be world class.

Anybody else you think might be interested in him?
