i think some switch in your brain must get flicked, and there's no going back, for you to go through with it and not for 1 second think of the consequences of who it will affect i.e. your kids etc.

you don't know that he didn't think of the consequences and its a little heartless to assume he didn't, he may have just been in too much emotional pain himself that it outweighed what he was leaving behind.

i'm with GOT, while this suicide was probably the result of mental illness brought on by emotional trauma, not all suicides are, and i don't think its right to assume they are just because you can't rationalize the decision in the same way that they do.

RIP

Sadly he left a note stating his intentions...............never got over his daughters death it would seem. None of us will ever know why so lets just leave him and his family in peace and just show respect:(

Man alive, truly horrible news.

If it was suicide then it reminds me of Darren Sutherland recently, and I wonder if the stresses of being a professional sportsperson got the better of him.

RIP.

Tragic.

That said, do not assume that someone can think rationally when they have been diagnosed with depression.

Because WE THINK that someone should think about those that it will effect doesn't mean the one who's depressed will.

Frankly, if it was in fact the depression that caused him to throw himself in front of a train, I seriously doubt he gave that much thought to his wife, daughter, or loved ones at all at that point in time.

He must have been in that much mental and emotional anguish.

Very very sorry to hear this has happened.

I guess he didn't get over the loss of his daughter..

Footballers are not immune from these things, and the money they earn doesn't make their life much easier..

RIP

Hope he's happy now sitting with his beautiful daughter. I feel so much for his wife, in 3 years she's lost her world.....

My god so sad...

R.I.P

Apparently he's been being treated for depression since 2003, before even his first daughter was born. He and his wife had since adopted another young girl who is six now. It seems he has been battling this demon for a long time and it ultimately got the better of him.

I'm sure he thought of his family during the times leading up to this. In fact I guess knowing you were leaving a family behind and hurting them so badly would only make things worse, increase the depression.

Either way, R.I.P. and nest wishes to his family :( :(
