Getting youngsters to support Everton.

If I agreed with you, we’d both be wrong.
Commented this on another thread maybe it needs a thread of its own.
I have a 6 year old who is starting to develop an intrest in football, we live in Ireland so we aren't going to get to games very often certainly not while covid is going around I it's current form.
How could you get a 6 year old to support Everton, come on son let's watch Everton you are in for a treat.. and have him watch the complete rubbish on display..
I'd be OK with him supporting any team apart from Liverpool and United.. obviously I'd rather have him support Everton.. thoughts?

Bring him to a LOI match instead. Get him enjoying going to matches then he'll enjoy going to Goodison, probably BMD by the time you bring him.

The only way is by taking him to a match mate.

The result won`t matter to him, as the whole experience, the noise, the smells, ( not the St End Bogs skunk by the way ) the crowd, the atmosphere and the whole " being there " will stay with him forever.

Said it on another thread but a lot of people I know that have kids say the same thing……as long as it’s not Liverpool.

Supporting Everton detracts from life rather than adds to it, let’s be honest.

Assuming that the trophy drought continues the only thing the club can do is to engage with young fans, make them feel wanted, and enable them to actually get to the ground to see games.

At that age mate the football/result isn't that important.

It's the whole experience. Take him a few games, the reaction to goals etc will be all he remembers.

Yep agree with this. My Dad took me to irish league games when I was very young. You get used to going to football and you get hooked. I'll never understand why, but I feel much worse after watching a defeat on TV than seeing a defeat in person. It makes no sense, but it's true.

stick this on

I'd say so.. that works well with the ferry make a long weekend out of it.. hoping to get to a couple of GAA games this year..
Might look into LOI Rovers would be the closest team to us, and they aren't too bad.. I'll definitely get up to an Ireland soon..

Agree with that, that's what happened with me, my uncle used to take me in 91/92 that started my love for the club and we weren't very good back then it was the whole experience.

I know what you mean, my great nephew has started supporting us and I feel really bad, it's my fault as it was me who got his dad to support them as well but he chose to support us I didn't stick my oar in for once so pleasantly surprised.

Yes I think getting your boy used to watching football matches is the best idea and you can bring him to Goodison Park in your own time, right now wouldn’t be the best of times.

However I can see the tide changing, very slowly, but if we add a couple more to the young full backs just signed then this season can change around and the gloom and doom of today can get brighter and you might think about bringing him to The Grand Old Lady before the end of this season.
