In my day you were either born a blue or a red - it's a total different era now .... young fans support the in teams even if they live hundreds of miles away - no harm in that but just a tech era -

I have a 6 year old who is starting to develop an intrest in football, we live in Ireland so we aren't going to get to games very often certainly not while covid is going around I it's current form.
How could you get a 6 year old to support Everton, come on son let's watch Everton you are in for a treat.. and have him watch the complete rubbish on display..
I'd be OK with him supporting any team apart from Liverpool and United.. obviously I'd rather have him support Everton.. thoughts?
There is that too, there is far too much of it on these days you'd get sick of it.Tbh I find a lot of the younger ones these days just don't have the love for football that my generation (and others) did when we were kids.
He's far more intrested in Basketball at the moment, he's with the under 7s in Portlaois, but he's starting to play more football (soccer) in school and around the yard, our local village has no FA football, only GAA.Like the lads said LOI, Ireland Matches and GAA.
For me, i got an official history of Everton Football Club - BBC - John Motson narrates when i was a nipper and everyone over here was a RS - used to watch it on loop - im sure there are more modern ones these days, but there is more to following a club than just whats happening in that moment, we have a massively rich successful history built on substance. Get him jerseys, i used to love paying in an Everton shirt against 11 Liverpool and Utd shirts at lunch times. We have family in Liverpool all Blues as well which helped going over and back - being anything else just wasn't an option, bar Celtic of course.
I work in a Uni and the younger ones just don't seem to follow it like we did (I'm early 40's) They might have a 'family team' they follow in a sort of loose way but thats it, and yes even I agree there is way too much of it on TV.There is that too, there is far too much of it on these days you'd get sick of it.
Good luck. City lost generations of young fans to the dark side during the rags period of dominance. Sadly, the more Liverpool win, the more new local fans they will pick up. When I was at school in the 70s, my class was split about 50/50 between City and Utd with a few other teams having the odd fan. By the time my son went to school at the start of the millennium, he was the only City fan in his class. I basically had to resort to brain washing him from an early age.Commented this on another thread maybe it needs a thread of its own.
