Weird, today is the first time I've tried to upload or hyperlink a moving image for a long time like

https://giant.gfycat.com/AgitatedUnsightlyBubblefish.gif
Doesn't appear to hyperlink even though it's a gif:
AgitatedUnsightlyBubblefish.gif

Also, WebM are smaller, more compact versions of GIFs and allow audio, but there doesn't be a way to link them:
http://webm.host/e8bea/vid.webm

Finally, you can't direct embed a twitter video without it just posting the link to the tweet, which wasn't what I wanted to do (i.e. per the last part of this twitter article)

Any chance we can get one or more of these things working?

Here's the answer to all your questions:

Mobile Phones

You've lost me there, unless you're saying mobiles can't render GIFs or WebMs, both of which it can, or that they cannot.. lol... use twitter videos, which are similar to the YouTube versions that could be embedded fine

That first .GIF is 15MB...everything else should explain itself to some degree. Data limits still exist for a lot of people, whether you're serving it up or choking it down.

Which is why I first tried the WebM format, which despite having sound is 1.2MB, and allows people to not play it if they don't want to

The twitter video direct link would also have worked if it actually showed the embedded video, and would have allowed them to not play it too, but instead produced a truncated and hyperlinked status update

Gifs are limited to a max size of 1Mb, mainly because @GrandOldTeam has a phobia about them

Your other points are beyond the understanding of an old man so I'm going to pass on them.

@GrandOldTeam will be able to better answer some of your more format-specific questions as it may just be to do with Xenforo's support for them. Wouldn't be hard to find out but I'd be lying if I said I was gonna' do that for you...I'm just a forum monkey. :drunk:

By the way I appreciate the responses especially given the time like, just trying to post something of Besic being a beast from the game today, like

No worries, your second link was above the 1Mb limit too by the way.
We proxy all gifs which is why we have a 1Mb limit, otherwise the server has the turning circle of @MoutsGoat

I honestly don't have a clue about the last one though. I stopped learning about web stuff in 2007 and havn't regretted that decision at all.

Oh didn't realise that externally hosted media still relied on the GOT Server performance
