Goats squad analysis thread 2019/20

The only dead weight that will be at the club and need binning next summer are

Walcott, Schneiderlin, Bolasie (all 1yr left)
Sandro, Tosun (2 years left)

The youngsters such as Dowell, Connelly, pennington etc may not be good enough but are not draining the club with high wages so there is no desperation to get rid.

One year left but exactly what month next year?

That list of outs is staggering. What an albatross around the clubs neck. When you think there is more to be done, added to last years cull and it’s ridiculous the position we got into. It will have tied Brands hands over the potential targets. I can only see our transfer business getting better from here on in.

We got into this position under RM, RK and BFS.

So just to get a jump on next year's deadweight list, assuming no one leaves in January.

Players out of contract at end of year (or, in Tarashaj's case, at end of loan):
Garbutt
Niasse
Martina
Stekelenburg
Tarashaj (2-year loan)

Players we'll for sure want rid of (all these except Tosun will be in last year of their contracts):
Besic
Bolasie
Connolly
Dowell
Pennington
Sandro
Tosun

Players we'll probably want rid of (both in last year of their contract):
Schneiderlin
Walcott

Players we might want rid of, but will probably stay (this list is highly subjective):
Calvert-Lewin
Davies
Kenny
Holgate

So that still leaves us five high-salary players that will again be hard to move:
Bolasie, Sandro, Tosun, Schneiderlin and Walcott

Contract lengths are based on half-assed research, so some are likely wrong.

How can he be loaned out for 2 years when his contract will expire next summer?

Couldn't find anywhere else to post this and it is about the squad ,would we have been happy with joint fourth at this stage ,if asked before the start of the season?
This is not an "are you happy " post but just have we done enough being in joint fourth .

Pleased overall. Takes time to bed in new players, so to come through in that position is good. We will gradually get stronger as the new players gel.
Villa was a disappointment, and a bit of a warning about our away form which needs to improve.

According to this lot, we have the 11th most expensive squad in Europe.

We should not have lost to Villa. If we'd even got a draw I'd have been a bit disappointed. Otherwise, results are not bad, but bear in mind that three of our four league opponents so far would be overjoyed if they survived in the Prem at the season's end. We desperately need to improve our away performances too.
