Goats squad analysis thread 2022/23

Gone - Kenny, Delph, Sigurðsson, Tosun, Lonergan (all released); van der Beek, El Ghazi (both return to their clubs respectively).

Sporting (tight arse) could still sign Virgínia but not for €3m. Simms is considered as part of the first team?

We considering Moise Kean in last season’s cull?

Absolutely one hundred percent necessary that, regardless of sales to DCL, Richy or others, we sign a competent centre half, centre midfielder, and slotter.

New spine needed

You've also missed out a crucial name.

The big man

Moise Kean

Will have Virginia back from loan as well won't we?
I considered Niels and Virginia, Niels came in to make my LB numbers look pretty, but IMO, neither should be considered first team players.
Think until proven otherwise the soon to be out of contract lads should be included, the Lonergans and Delphs of this world for example. It will be much sweeter to put them in the cull section if they do then leave.
I did enjoy that bit, but they mess the numbers up, we can celebrate in their threads when they leave.
Onyango, Simms, Dobbin? Presumably all might play a role in the first team next squad next season.
Unlikely, in my humble opinion.

But its not cast in stone, if any make the breakthrough, then I will gladly add them.

the balance of the squad is ok for the first time in a long time, the quality however...
I was "shocked" at the high number of players, I mean we lose a lot of players this summer, but still have a squad of 24.

As you say tho, numbers wish the squad looks good, missing a Striker and GK possibly, but other than that, decent.

Quality on the other hand, yes.

The first few sections (GK, RB, LB) are OK and then it just turns ugly.

I might move Iwobi to CM instead of wide forward.
