Better than my getting to the greens in 6 and walking away with a 11

On the par 3s

Yep, it's important to know when your simply crap and take a back seat and just enjoy watching golf lol

I won a tournament at my club at the weekend, was buzzing with that. I’m still bang average, like; just had a better round than the others on the day 😁

Easy to hit. I started with g5
The dot colour on ping clubs means what angle the irons are set at.. but I’m sure ping will change these free of charge or your local pro shop… try going to American golf and trying a few sets.. some will suit your eye over others

Hi everyone

Looking for a bit of advice

Myself and my mate are looking at taking up golf. We are proper novices , only been to the driving range a few times and 2 weeks back did a front 9.

We both really enjoyed it, might of been the buggy part whilst having a couple of Heinekens that added to it 😀

We are looking at buying some clubs. Im not too sure what to get, but then I dont wanna rinse loads of money when its not needed.

American golf offer a free in store custom fit also a new starter experience.. im guessing this is a good idea as being different heights will affect what clubs are right for you ?

Any help will be muchly appreciated... cheers 😎👍
I would suggest not paying hundreds of pound for a fitted set right off the bat. As your a novice the way you swing a club right now will likely be completely different to how you swing it in a year or 2 when you’ve got better. If you’ve had lie angles etc fitted they’ll likely no longer be best suited for you.

I started out with a £200 Wilson starter kit. Driver 3 wood 5 hybrid. Then 6 iron down to SW with putter. All just standard clubs. Got me used to playing again.

Then over the past 2 years I’ve added bits and pieces like a proper driver, various wedges and this year got myself fitted irons

Yep, definitely convinced into getting a second hand set for now 👍

Though I am going to attend the free lesson as I think it will benefit us both

Thank you 😎👍

What irons did you go for, mate? Been looking for a new set myself but unsure what to go for.

Ping g425’s. Was meant to get them last year as a 30th present, but I went to my fitting and couldn’t hit the ball off the floor 😂.

Pushed it back to this year and made sure I went the range before hand and everything was fine.

I hit my Wilson’s fine, but there is a noticeable difference with using proper clubs instead of a package set. When I replaced the package driver with an M2 it was the same thing, it’s just a different ball game with the proper clubs.

Nice, I've got some Ping G's, I also had Wilsons before that which were sound but the Ping's do feel much better. I've had mine since 2017 so definitely need an upgrade, not sure whether to stay with Ping or move to Mizuno, will depend on whatever the best deal is that I can find.

The best deal I found on mine was on a site called Uk Golf Academy. It’s some driving range down south.

They gave me more customisation than AG and others like clubhouse golf. They was only offering 5 iron to PW for like £720.

I was able to change mine to 4 iron to 9 iron with Uk Golf and it was just under £600. Basically worked out at £100 a club. Looked like you could order just single clubs if you wanted aswell.
