The PGA Tour players had a long break after the FedEx Cup, and the European players had a big tournament right before this. The rust is showing through.

Then there's the fact that Donald has set up to punish wayward tee shots, and the greens being much slower than those on the PGA Tour.

I don't think Johnson helped matters with his captain's picks, but I also can't see him assembling a team of twelve that doesn't struggle, based on what I'm seeing. The Americans aren't sinking putts, the only person doing that lately who isn't here is Lucas Glover, and there's the argument that it was just a purple patch.
