Golf 2025 Season…….

One of the greatest nights of sport that I can recall.

"Roller coaster" is massively overused but totally appropriate to describe Rory's win.

I can't recall seeing such a visceral reaction and goes some way to underlining the pressure that he must have been under.

Rose was sensational as well.
I had conflicting emotions: I wanted McIlroy to win, but my gosh Rose on balance deserved it for that sublime final round. He's came close so many times!

With regard to Rory, we were saying last night that this moment - the lifting of the voodoo - could help him go on and have a superb summer as he's in form.

I agree Phil. At the start of the night I was desperate for Rory to win to complete the Grand Slam but by the end I was happy for both Justin and Rory , it was sensational stuff.

I will however say that I'm not sure how Rory would have handled not winning after throwing away so many opportunities but have no fears whatsoever that Rose will be fine and continue to have a great season.

I know he has had some gut wrenching losses but if he didn't get over the line yesterday I'm not sure how he would have coped.

Going to the Irish Open later this year and if I get the chance I am going to give him what for. Putting us through all of that.

Easily the most dramatic day of sport I have ever watched. I was getting very emotional at the end. As a McIlroy fan he has taken us on a roller-coaster throughout his career and that day encapsulated everything about his career.

Hopefully it releases the shackles now, as Faldo said, he will never have anything like the pressure he had during that final round and he came through it.

…..i like a bet but I’ve never backed McIlroy in a major because he’s never value but I’m chuffed for him, he’s made history. Great effort from Rose, tipped up pre-tournament at 100-1, he’s got a steely interior to go with a being such a classy man.
I had a tenner at 6/1 i don't normally back him but I just had a feeling this year.
A brilliant final day ,I thought he had blown it a few times

You only have to look at how he guided MacIntyre through his first Ryder cup and his hugely impressive record with Stenson. Not only is Rose a very underrated player, he is class personified off it. To miss his first 20+ cuts as a pro to have the career he’s had shows the steely determination behind the man.

…and won an Olympic medal (i think) when many players gave the tournament a miss because there was no prize money involved.

He is also the sponsor of a Junior Golf Tournament, one of the biggest in the UK, as it is shown on Sky.

It’s nice when some people give something back to the game. Similarly it was interesting to hear Faldo talk about meeting Rory at one of his Faldo series junior events when Rory was a youngster. Faldo at times has appeared quite aloof in his playing days and rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way. However he too has given back to the game. I think it said a lot about the man now, how emotional he was with Rory’s win and how happy he was for him. Him and Butch Harman doing commentary together was box office punditry with their expert analysis over the course of the night.
