Good starts

What can we do to ensure we have better starts to games. Probability suggests that going behind in games will give us a significantly lower chance of winning the game. Is it tactical or motivational?

Or are we just simply not that good a team?

I see what you've done there. Yeah how can we get a good start? Maybe a good set up. Players playing in their right positions. Players being motivated and intense from the get go. Not making defensive errors.

The players are being told that they must not attack unless we have conceded, so in order to win the game we have to concede at least once. That’s why we keep letting in goals at the beginning of games. It’s the don’t attack unless you’re losing tactic.

When starting games with five at the back you are setting a defensive 'under the cosh' mentality from the off. It's hard to approach matches with a positive attacking attitude if you are set up not to lose rather than to win.
