AAAAARRRRRRHHHHHHH!!

I [Poor language removed] hate this saying. What the [Poor language removed] is that all about. Why not, good touch for a small man, or fat man, or ginger man...

It seems all big men have a good touch, so why [Poor language removed] say it!!

[Poor language removed] pisses me off, fumin here lids......

Can anyone give any reason to this Verble [Poor language removed]..??

Tall players are usually clumsy and akward looking when they have the ball at there feet.

Shorter players also tend to have a lower sense of gravity than tall players. I dont mind the saying "good touch for a tall man", what did annoy me however was that many never said so about Duncan Ferguson's decent touch on the deck, but over lauded the likes of Peter Crouch.

crouch could score overhead kicks every match. he still looks like a clumsy big fekker. his girls not bad tho:P

His bird is fine but he still is an ugly mug with an awful lot of money. He can only score overhead kicks because he is that crap with his head.

He's a good player though, excellent first touch.

He is a good player, i agree, but for someone who is 6'7", he is dire with his head. He does'nt have any neck muscles to generate any power, although his heading as improved over the last few seasons.

True, definatly an area he should improve in. Although as you say he has improved slightly over the last seasons. He's good a winning flick ons and he's a decent target man, in terms of attacking the ball he's not very good.

Very good technically though and a good finisher. He makes up for it in other areas.

True, i dont think i would have admitted to it though if he still played for the RS (y).

i think the phrase mainly comes from the fact that tall players automatically provide a certain asset to their teams because their height gives them a heading advantage

if you're short you better be fast and have a great [Poor language removed] touch, so it almost doesn't need to be said. some big players (both in height and physical strength) can win headers and muscle people off the ball, so they don't necessarily need a good touch because they're used differently, which is why some announcers feel the need to point that out.

thats my take on it atleast (y)
