Monday night would be absolutely terrible.. We don’t even know what day it is yet but hardly giving employees/employers much notice to just “book it off”. I suspect it’s not as easy for everyone else as it is you to do that.I've send Ped from toffee tv is campaigning to make sure it's not the Monday night, the last game of the season.
I strongly believe it should be a night game, with events before it. And the last game of the season gives her the send off she deserves.
If it's difficult for you to travel for home games, fair enough but that's your problem, book it off if it's that important, don't ruin what could be an amazing event.
Again though, some people work sundays too! Maybe you don't but there will be plenty of people who would need to book a Sunday off every bit as much as they'd need to book a monday off.Monday night would be absolutely terrible.. Next week I believeWonder when sky will tell us when we can play our last ever game at Goodison. It’s not like they’re putting people of planning something is there?
Just got this too Rich!
I'm the same as you!Just got this too Rich!
I have no talent football wise but bloody love Everton(sometimes!)
Will that do, do you reckon?
Yeah there's no date/time that suits everybody but there is a date/time that suits MOST and it ain't a Monday night. So kids and teachers finish at what 3 30? 4 and a half hours before kick off? It’s not exactly impossible for them to savour it is it?
I don’t care when it is, I’d probably rather it wasn’t Monday personally but I just can’t get on board with all the ‘oh it would be terrible’ shouts. There’s no answer that suits everyone (some people work weekends aswell you may be shocked to hear, and trains are worse on Sundays for most people too). I just think the pearl clutching about it from some is massively over the top, if the occasion is important to these people as you’re making out then they’ll sort it out. If they’d just quite like to have an afternoon piss up and get together with their mates and a Monday night would ruin it then unlucky but who cares.
I don't disagree, and like I said i'd probably prefer it wasn't a monday night myself too, but the fact is the club want it on Sky and the saturday is out of the question so it's not easy to find a solution. I'd rather the monday night than an early kick off on sunday myself and certainly if you claim to care about atmosphere etc that would be a much better solution so if we take both of those options out then there's only really late Sunday afternoon as a possibility. Chelsea v United is on that weekend which absolutely reeks of a Sky 4:30 game for their target audience but ideally they pick ours instead. If they don't it won't be the end of the world though, even if a few day trippers have to have a couple less cans of stella on the train on a monday than they'd like.Yeah there's no date/time that suits everybody but there is a date/time that suits MOST and it ain't a Monday night.

The West Ham game was on a Tuesday night, it kicked off about 8 30 due to crowd trouble. The word is that there are celebrations after the game. Plenty of people gathering yo say goodbye. I seem to remember the West Ham send off being something in the region of a few hours after the final whistle, parading former greats etc, then a fireworks display. If we kick off at say, 8pm, game will finish at 10, then there'll be restrictions on noise etc. People just won't be able to see many of the things planned for afterwards.
They cant just do them before the game, cause the pitch would have to be cleared an hour before for warm-ups etc.
I know that the club have been planning, and I also suspect that what they're planning will need much more than 5 weeks to plan and execute.
Hopefully this whole idea of a Monday night kick off is just somebody being fairly mischievous
The club specifically asked for the game to be that weekend with a view to it being on TV. They didn't want it overshadowing by the normal final day stuff because they wanted it to be the focus of the whole football media. They'll be raging if they play second fiddle to a single player.KDB announcing he’s leaving city end of season. Their last home game same weeknd as s’ton game. Hopefully sky prefer that and leave our game alone.
