Goodison Virgin

Hi all,

I've been an armchair Everton fan for about 20 years now, and shamefully must admit I've never actually been to a home game (my dads a Man Utd fan and took me to see them at Old Trafford, but I had to sit amongst the home supporters).

However, as a surprise for my 30th birthday my fiance got myself and her tickets for the game this weekend (ironically against United).

I was just wondering where the best nearby watering holes are for supporters(pre and post game), If there's any must do's/don't at Goodison, and what the modern must-know chants are?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What date is your birthday mate?

Thanks for the pub suggestions guys. I am assuming they will be sympathetic to armchair supporters of the Scottish persuasion? Or should I blanket that with my best Paul Hollywood impersonation?

The username came from my belief that Romelu is the reincarnate of Rufio from Hook. He can fly, he can fight, and he can *cock-a-doodle-doo!!*

Lol, just split my sides!

The crowd in The Lisbon are friendly, you'll be welcomed in there. There is historical Scottish connections with The Lisbon, and it's not unusual to spot someone wearing a kilt in there. I think it dates back to the war, a Scottish regiment was based in Liverpool and frequented the place.

The pub can be described as a blue pub, although at least one of the barmen is a kopite. Tell him to stick his sausages up his arse if he tries to serve you, that will endear you to the regulars.

What date is your birthday mate?

6th April mate, so a belated birthday present. I'm guessing you're an Aries yourself?

The Lisbon sounds like a good shout to me, thanks guys. It sounds pretty friendly enough. It could be worse, I could be a Rangers (or Sevco) fan preparing to get married to a life-long Celtic fan....oh wait!

Try The Lisbon in town for pre match bevvies, cheap beer, friendly crowd, and they lay on some free food pre match, nothing fancy buts lots of sausages and stuff.

Can confirm, very meaty. In fact, looking at these two posts

Taurus. I'm on the 25th, thought we'd be turning 30 at the same time.

You'd fit right in
