Gordon Newcastle Fee

We will regret that fee. He is just starting to bloom for them (was excellent again on Saturday) and was the u21 world cup player of the tournament. It went sour for him here, he was another boo brigade victim and understandably wanted out. I am not saying he was without blame but, like I have always said, he is better than we think.

Ive always rated Gordon. Am I right in saying that Carlo started him in his first ever starting XI? I think he's class me

What was most interesting to me about that docu 1st ep was

I) how much Newcastle wanted the geezer... We say £40m is good now but if he cooks this year we might be cursing that extra £20m. Howe has had 6 months to work on him, and with Barnes for competition, he could make a big impact if he's as good as they've laid on; and

II) how stale the docu feels in general. Very plastic and heavily edited. Shearer feels like he's speaking at a wake. Stavely looks like a corpse. Fans pretending that the money isn't covered in guts. Welcome to modern football, ladies and gentleman.

Hate to say it but if the first match is anything to go off of, Howe is turning him into something good enough to justify the fee and then some. Newcastle gonna be right in the mix this season.

Yep, we like to pretend he is crap because so many made him the villain and booed him out.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the fee, or with him for leaving - what I do have a problem with is the club getting in such a awful position financially.

40m of pure profit on a academy player would be good if A. We weren’t financially hamstrung by awful business and B. We actually scouted adequately.

Not being able (or willing) to use that 40mill is the real kicker.

I watched it and all and for once we actually came out on top. Unless it was all a blag by them for the telly and we'd already dropped our kecks.
