Dan Gosling will be out of action for up to nine months after picking up a knee injury at Wolves.

The 20-year old midfielder has had a scan and the diagnosis is not good.

"Our worst fears have been confirmed," physio Mick Rathbone told evertonfc.com. "Dan has ruptured his cruciate ligament and will be unfortunately be out for up to nine months."

Gosling clashed with Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann in the closing stages at Molineux last Saturday when he was trying to grab what would have been a winning goal shortly after coming onto the field as an 83rd minute substitute.

The England Under-21 star has made a total of 17 appearances this season, scoring three goals.

"I'm really disappointed for Dan," said David Moyes. "He's been making great progress here at Everton and we look forward to having him back as soon as possible

Ahh that's horsesh@t

Gosling was fast becoming quite a player, another youngster that could play in a few different roles

I too loved the fact that he didn't come off, just incase 11 players could have snatch a vital extra 2 points.....I'm gutted about this more than I thought I would be

Another nail in the coffin for our break-through 'prehabilitation' techniques....

Looking at the replay it was just another nasty impact injury, it went all bendy.

Bloody hell, unbelibable news, what a season for injuries!
Could be worse i suppose, look at Pompey!

Looking forward to him coming back around xmas time, sigh!

Sad news. Really is a hoodoo on us for long-term injuries. Hope he gets well soon. The medical staff will certainly be getting lots of experience with this sort of injury. Hopefully they'll be getting much better at managing the recovery.

Shocked is not the word.

With a ruptured ACL the boy shouldn't of been even able to walk never mind what he did on Saturday.

I guess however for all intents and purposes the difference between severe-tear/partial rupture and complete rupture dont mean anything for his recovery as its a certainty he'll be off for surgery.
