Pickford should be player of the season by a mile
The only real choice for the season as a whole for me is Pickford or Tarkowski

Iwobi was decent when many were terrible under Lampard but it really was best of a bad bunch

McNeil was probably our best player in the Dyche half of the season but was dreadful pre-Dyche

Doucoure was decent under Dyche but had a real purple patch after coming back from his dumb suspension with amazing goals against Brighton and Bournemouth which saved us

Yeah, was thinking this was going to be a poll - and he was the first name that came into my mind. No doubt, we would have been down without his heroics in many, many games.

So how was this worked out; adding up all the votes for the monthly polls, I take it? Perhaps there is a strong latter-season apathy effect at work here, with far fewer people voting later on, when we were dans la merde 🤷‍♂️

It should be Pickford but obviously people are always inclined to go with an outfielder in the post-match votes.

No arguments for that if we're picking an outfielder that it should be Iwobi. He was one of the very few who looked decent pre-Dyche, and since Dyche has come in he has played wherever the manager has asked, worked his nuts off and has continued to create chances.

Iwobi still polarises people, and I get it, I can't see Iwobi starting in any side going for top 6/7/8, but you have to remember that we are nowhere near that right now.

Iwobi being player of the season just sums up how awful we were and indeed still are - and will be until we have a complete clearout. Pickford should have won by a mile. He kept us in the PL almost on his own. Credit to McNeil, Duke and Tarks, I can barely remember the 3 decent games Onana played. Well done to AndyC for running it and for his match reports.
