GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Just finished the Benoit Dark Side of the Ring. Very interesting look at a horrific incident. Felt so sorry for his surviving son.

The rest of the season looks like it is going to be a great watch too. Ones I'm most looking forward to are the episodes on Owen Hart's death, Jimmy Snuka's potential murder of his girlfriend, The Road Warriors, New Jack and Dino Bravo.

Yeah, just watched it there last night, very hard hitting stuff. Somehow struck a balanced tone, being able to talk about a man guilty of one of the most brutal and terrible acts without demonising him. I cried when they recounted Guererro's death

WWE have done such an awful job with their shows building up to Mania. I don't want to be to harsh because the fact that they've had any shows on is crazy when you look at what's going on in the world right now. But when you see the little things that AEW are doing to make their shows watchable, its just day compared to WWE's night.

I mean, WWE have zero competition for RAW and Smackdown. Zero, nothing and they've been weeks away from their big show case event when this started yet their ratings have been utter toilet during this time. If you'd tuned into their shows for the first time in years then you'd of turned off almost immediately because its that bad. Its barely watchable for great chunks of the show and you can't lay all the blame no having on atmosphere and zero fans there because AEW have found a way to make that somewhat work. All the lack of fans have done is highlight the problems that WWE had going on prior to this. If they don't make a change at the top of the company that they so obviously need when this pandemic ends, then they never will.

I would definitely agree AEW have put on entertaining shows without the fans.... Wwe have struggled to utilise the potential freshness they could have added...prehaps they have ideas, but are saving them for Wrestlemania...Charlotte and Ripley clashing outdoors could have been a full on brawl around the entire grounds, as I'm sure at least one match will be at Mania.

There have been some big positives in the Mania build though... The Promos from Edge and Orton have been fantastic (shame this feud isn't getting the stage it deserves)...AJ and Taker has been a decent (and original) feud...Rollins and Owens have cut some good promos... Bryan and Sami has been entertaining... Lesnars build has been no different to any other year tbh....

Remember aew have had 2 shows behind close doors, with no PPV.... Wwe have Raw, Smackdown and NXT all in the same building that Wrestlemania will be... I guarantee you they have had creative ideas, that they've had to hold off on so as to give Wrestlemania every chance of feeling fresh and entertaining...

What's everyone's thoughts on AEW finally adding that mid-card title in the TNT championship? I love that they've gone for another tournament to crown the first champion, tournaments in pro wrestling are always great when executed well. Who do you think should be the first champion?

While I'm talking about tournaments in wrestling, how great would be if WWE made their next PPV the King of the Ring? Hell, even if they stop doing PPV's for a while after Mania they could still make the tournament the main feature on RAW and Smackdown for a good few weeks to a mouth if done right. The stories and feuds write themselves in that environment and they could make it the "biggest KOTR" tournament ever, with qualifiers, last 32, ect, hell make it as big as possible and have surprise contestants in the early rounds. That way all their random matches on shows still serve a purpose. They could even do a Queen of the Ring torment running alongside it. That's easy for them to work with on tv and interesting for the audience.

Edge has apparently pulled out too.

They are up a creek without a paddle.

For the sake of having wrestlmania at all they are damaging the branding of the event day by day.

I know come next year this will all be forgotten so I don't mean it in that way , but this will go down as the most forgettable event in wrestling history for all the wrong reasons. It's going to be a lacklustre house show being named the biggest show of the year.

Aew are showing wwe up on a weekly basis now. Watching the hardy Jericho segment and they use the empty arena for their benefit rather than at a handicap.

The juggernaught of the wwe won't slow down but aew are helping their brand no end for the wrestling purest

If done right, it should be the title used to identify a future world champion and build that younger talent up, like the Intercontinental Title was in the 80's and 90's....

MJF is the obvious one for me... He could be a cowardly cheating heal champion for a good year....he's not gonna be world champion for a while yet, so rather than have him feud and lose to main event talent, protect him in the mid card as a long reigning champion...

I don't see Darby Allen as a future world champ, so not him... And it can't be Brodie Lee (don't think you can have another wwe guy win your other belt too)...

Hangman Page I'd possible..

Omega is possible, purely as a way of keeping him away from Moxley for 6 to 12 months, then eventually do Champion vs Champion

Four candidates for AEW's TNT title – Darby, Guevara, MJF, and Jungle Boy.

Four youth who are all future world title holders and can go right now. But I'm not sure it'll be MJF because he won the Diamond Ring and he seems to be positioned as a future contender for Moxley once he beats all of the Inner Circle.

Did they announce the brackets? I'm a big fan of Sammy Guevara, so I'd love to see him win it. If not Sammy, then MJF is the pick for sure. Hangman is great as well, but I think he's destined for the world title within a year or so.

They're announcing half the brackets on Dark and the second half on Dynimate this week.

I'm with you on Sammy Guevara he'd be perfect for that title imo.

As you say Page will be a world champion or at least very much in the picture in the next year.

With MJF, I don't he needs it or any other title tbh. He's one of them extremely rare talents that could go his entire career without any form of title and not be worse off for it. He's the modern day Roddy Piper. Maybe he'll be world champion someday but the belt will gain more prestige by him being the champion then he will by being champion.
