GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Disagree. Thought that was the best bit of wrestling I've seen in a long time tbh. Giving the title back to Cody a few weeks later was, conversely, awful

It was great, but it just doesn't fit the show at all, when all they're doing is winking at the cameras and basically telling people not to take them seriously. Why would anyone take the Cody/Brodie segment seriously, having watched the other stuff they put on? AEW feels schizophrenic.

Don't agree here either. It's building. Slowly, but it's building. Given the current global circumstances and wrestlings traditional reliance on crowds, I think they've outperformed WWE as a fan growing product tbh

The ratings say otherwise, They might hit close to a million when they're not up against NXT, but other than that their ratings are around the same numbers every week. WWE has been around for decades and the product has been crap for years, so they really should be growing more than them. If Khan would just deliver what he promised, instead of goofy junk.

I did, and I hate their comedy crap. My jaw dropped.

Bear in mind, even the attitude era, considered by many including myself as the best period of wrestling ever, had its fair share of terrible matches and segments. A lot. I'm rewatching Raw from 96 onwards and for every Steve Austin and the Rock, there was a Rockabilly, Mae Young giving birth to hand, Meat, 2 Cool, I could go on.

Wrestling is a rough and smooth industry, I judge any product on its smooth

Think Khan needs to get some writers in, agree there

I agree that the attutide era (and WWE in general) had a lot of horrible stuff, but at least they acted like they meant what they were doing. And they still act like they mean what they do today. AEW for the most part doesn't even try. They did the scoop of the century when they signed Jericho, but instead of using him to give credibility to their brand they've turned him into another comedy act that don't stand out from the rest of their crew. It disgusts me, haha, I just find it sad. Such a wasted opportunity, they had such an opportunity to make wrestling fun to watch again. Now even MJF has turned into a goof.

And I liked Too Cool - especially their theme song - but then again, comedy might work when it's the exception, and not the main ingredient of the show.

But that's what I mean. Mox is their champ and he ain't going in for comedy skits any time soon. Jericho was a serious champ and a goofy mid carder now, but his time will come back around when he needs his game face. Austin and Angle played koombaya with novelty cowboy hats ffs. I don't like large segments of AEW, but I skip them. I'm not the fan that they want or need. The attitude era is gone and will never happen again

Well, a minor difference: Austin and Angle were actually funny.

The attitude era isn't even my favorite, to be honest. My all-time favorite feud was Jericho vs HBK back in 07 (or something like that), where Jericho turned heel after smashing Michaels face through the "jerithron". Best storytelling and some of the best matches I've ever seen. I thought Jericho would go down as an all-time favorite of mine, but now I've just lost respect for him. He's in AEW for an easy payday. He should be smart enough to realize that a lot of the stuff he's doing is crap, but he probably doesn't care as long as he makes his millions.

Oh, and a little recommendation: If you want to see top tier wrestling in 2020, check out Eric Young vs Eddie Edwards from Victory Road. Best match I've seen all year. Simply superb. Impact show's that it's still possible to put on some good stuff. Their tag team division is also excellent.

AEW atm is worse than TNA ever was.

Hahaha I remember that Jenna Morasca match. What a trainwreck. But then again I never watch womens wrestling. I only watched this one because I wanted to see if it was as bad as everyone said it was.

Can hardly blame TNA for the Hardy v Sting match. Hardy ruined that one. At least TNA had the common sense to end it quickly (unlike AEW with Matt Hardy after he got concussed on PPV vs Guevara). Sting is my all-time favorite wrestler and I felt so sorry for him lol

Bound for Glory tonight. First wrestling show I've looked forward to in ages.

Very good show.

Swann vs Young delivered. Great ending to a superb storyline. Two great storytellers and obviously two incredible wrestlers.

EC3 and Moose had the best cinematic match I've ever seen. I never liked those before, but this was actually good. I think it did a lot for Moose's character. I hear this was EC3's only match in Impact for now. Hope not, but if it was he did a great job making Moose an even bigger star.

The tag team division continues to impress, and I enjoyed the gauntlet battle royale. A couple of great surprises. I really hope one of the surprise entrants is back for real, and not just for one night.

Fun to see that Shamrock is still able to perform at a relatively high level.
