GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Jarrett was old school though. I think that is what it seems to get at, wrestling is dead to him, this sports entertainment is it's child.

glad he feels that way anyway, rather see the likes of Zayn / Balor / Owens / Rollins over his types of wrestler.

I think he's just annoyed that wrestling is becoming more about actual talented wrestlers who are actually good at putting a match together than jacked up guys who can only manage a 3 minute match and half naked women throwing pudding at each other

russo has a point but its a very pedantic one

I understand its sports entertainment and anything can happen, rey mysterio proved anyone can win the big belts

i mean he is correct because someone like balor in real life would not beat up reigns or rusev as he is tiny compared to them, i mean balor is 190 pounds and reigns is 265, there is over a 70 pound swing but as i mentioned above its "sports entertainment" not the ufc so it shouldn't really be a factor.

Royce Gracie easily beat a bunch of bigger guys because he was better at MMA than they were

If Balor is the better wrestler, then in storyline he should be capable of beating them

true but mma was different back in the old days. In the old days the fighters were mainly only disciplined in one field of martial art whereas now they train in everything and cover all bases but yeah that doesnt necessarily mean that the smaller guy will always win its just unlikely.

I guess they got there in the end (turning Balor into an immediate star)....but must say I hated how they introduced him.....firstly having him drafted....secondly just having him standing there tonight at the start of the show with everyone else....would have much prefered if he was a surprise debut tonight and then won....

oh and, WWE Universal Championship title.....couldn't hate that name more....

Agree on both points.

On Russo again: He's from the same school of thought as Vader with Will Ospreay "oh it was better when I was doing it/making it happen"

The business has moved on from that. Gone are the days of a leg drop for a finisher or the big man being guaranteed a win. Lots of fans enjoy the performance and flippy stuff, they don't care about your Reigns', Strowman or Big Show anymore. They want to see the entertaining people. With big men, you know what you're usually going to see. Plenty of power moves and a load of annoying stuff.

With smaller superstars, let us say cruiserweights, you don't know what they will do. Watch the CWC on the Network, the amount of people going for different variations of the Tope Suicidia is amazing. Flips over the top that get to you go "Oh [Poor language removed], he could have died there but that was amazing anyway"

There's still room for people like Reigns. Sure, he's probably going to be in the dog house for a few weeks and then he'll be back on top. But ask yourself, are you looking forward to Rollins vs Balor more than you were Rollins vs Reigns?
