Interested to see how he gets on. Seems like all of Chelsea’s attacking players regressed under Tuchel.
It's a weird mix of a squad they have there, I think he will look to move a few on at some point. I can see him going back for that Caicedo for example.

Tuchel was never the new regimes man.

If you are spending a billion +on something, you have the right to put your own people in place. Mad as it was sacking Tuchel, these things happen with a change of regime.

Seems like they are implementing the same structure as with the dodgers, Boehly will hand over control to a sporting director now who will work with Potter. Despite everyone thinking this will be short term, Boehly has had the same management team in place now with the Dodgers for almost seven years.

Whopper of a contract for Potter if all reports are to be believed.

Was it mad sacking Tuchel? I don't think that was going anywhere.

Tuchel wasn't exactly new on the job tbf

A year and a half mate, we know the success.

To be fair PSG & Chelsea as clubs were poor career moves, not financially, but there is very little romance about them, which is a pity because he’s a football man, even if he is a bit of the head the ball, which I suspect is why he isn’t there still, he can be spiky and a new boss who didn’t recruit you won’t like that. I’d like to see him at a proper football club and build something.

I don't rate Tuchel at all. Winning the CL is great obviously but as far as achievements go taking over a supremely talented team and needing to survive a 7 game cup run isn't the pinnacle of what you'll see a manager do. But even giving him full credit there I still have to ask if he's ever left a club in a better spot than when he showed up? To me it's a no and there was nothing to say that was going to be different at Chelsea if they let him keep going.

He's a guy with good ideas tactically in some cases but to me he's not a complete manager. When you work for the clubs he has you'll get more chances but I would be surprised if he's not had his peak already. I just don't see it with him.

Haha apart from that CL win, hes not great! lol Agree to difffer so mate, I massively admired his skills in winning that CL, thought it was incredible and I really enjoyed it.

Like I say, I don’t really think of PSG or Chelsea as real clubs, they are places managers go for a pay day on the circuit for high wages, you aren’t building anything and you aren’t in control as a manager, therefore a large degree of your skill set is redacted. It’s about going there for the money really, managers know this, they don’t mind being sacked these days.

To be honest, I don’t think you can judge any manager unless they are left alone to build something over a period of time, certainly not after a year and a half, nor at clubs like PSG nor Chelsea, you have to be given that opportunity, less and less clubs do that these days and managers know the score and just go for the pay day. Poor career moves from a footballing point of view, good move financially, good manager - would like to see him take an opportunity at a club he could mould, build and control.

I'm not sure as a manager what you can do differently. You either take over an impatient one with the money to compete or a patient one that can't actually get to that level. There isn't much of a middle ground.

I think there is a middle ground myself mate, its still possible to build and i think that is still the greatest test of a manager, to build a club. Ferguson did it at Utd, Wenger at Arsenal, Moyes did it here for almost a decade a decade and is doing it at WHU, Poch at Spurs, Pep did it at Barca, less so elsewhere, Mr Kool is doing it over at Mordor, you build the club toward self sustaining success. Many examples over the years. They are managers, i think Tuchal can be that. On the opposite end of the spectrum are head coaches, go to some faceless money laden club for a year and a bit and its all about short term success with a limited remit and no control, all parties know you are getting sacked including yourself but you dont mind because you make 10s of millions, its just another cost for the club. Difference between a head coach and a manager and the skills required to my mind.
