As a kid the Dredd art used to scare me - something about the gritty realism of the colour and the blood splatters, feel like it's a technique only ever used for Dredd for some reason.

Is that Simon Bisley. Loved his 2000AD work on Slaine and ABC Warriors, he didn’t do Dredd that often but yes this is great.

The period from 86 to 91 was a golden period for 2000AD. All those Dredd mega epics + Bad Company, Nemesis, Anderson.

Totally spoiled for about 80p a week.

I looked at subscribing to 2000ad recently but it costs a fortune now, and it might be [Poor language removed] these day.

The biggest mind blown moment was when the comic strip The Dead Man suddenly revealed that The Dead Man was Dredd and blew open the Necropolis Mega Epic, and that they had been building up the strands of the story over a couple of years. Amazing storytelling.

Ive got Saga, Batman Killing Koke and Vol1 of Low, East is West and Transmetropolitan for now....altho those last 3 I wasnt clear if they are standalone volumes or not

On Vol2 of Saga and its excellent

Been trying to get a hold of Invincibles full collection, and also Sandman and Fables

If anyone is interested in Vikings or warrior stuff in general then I highly recommend The Northlanders by Brian Wood. It only ran 50 issues and I'm pretty sure that the entire run is still available in the form three trade paper backs. Its quality. The writing, the art, everything.

Got the first one for a euro through Amazon/kindle. Seems v good, thanks for the recommend. Will look out for the complete set now

Really like the guided view mode in Kindle. A great way to read them

Have you got a coloured Kindle? Mine's only B&W so I refrain from comics on it.

Ah its the app on my ipad. Works pretty sweet but this is the first one ive read on it

The others have been stuff my mates had in cbr files

Cant believe the prices of the digital copies to buy, and that youd have to use various subs to get the various collection you want
