Groucho's Fact Hunt

....for many years it was claimed Elvis Presley never set foot in Britain, apart from briefly at Prestwick Airport in Scotland. However, when Bill Kenwright was interviewed on radio in 2008, he said Tommy Steele told him he met Presley in London in 1958 after they had chatted on the telephone.

According to Kenwright: “Elvis flew in for a day and Tommy showed him around London.” Kenwright said he didn’t know whether he was doing right sharing the story. Steele later said; “I swore never to divulge publicly what took place and I regret that it has found some way of getting into the light. I only hope he can forgive me.”

Another thing to blame Bill for!!

Colin Clive, the actor who played Baron Frankenstein in the original film, was a descendant of Clive of India. He died of tuberculosis brought on by alcoholism aged only 39.
