By the letter of the law it was the correct decision, but generally debatable whether VAR should get involved in marginal calls like that

I think the keepers rear may be inline with the toe. Where’s that animation?

Rafuh's right here, the goalie plays him onside. The animation shows the line at the leg of the attacker and defender, ignoring the GK.

It's a shambolic decision.

That VAR decision has baked my brain.

However, I remain all for machines deciding these calls over people in principle.

I’d rather an emotionless robot makes incredibly anal but correct decisions than a human with their conscious or unconscious biases.

Disagree. They completely ignored the presence of the goalkeeper, notice how he mysteriously did not appear on that VAR ’reconstruction’?

  • any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent

The hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered. For the purposes of determining offside, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit.

A player is not in an offside position if level with the:
  • second-last opponent or
  • last two opponents

There's nothing to bake, it's plain wrong and i'm looking forward to the FIFA officials to try to explain it.
It's inexcusable.
