Tactical shooters are the one genre I am utter garbage at.

Took a long time and playing with good players to figure out why. I've had partial hearing loss in one ear since I was very young, which means that when a normal person says, "He's over there!" I instead ask, "Where?"
Im very, very bad these days, I was never amazing, but age certainly makes you worse.

A common joke in our discord is somebody saying "Hes here" and everybody else screaming "WHERE IS HERE".

CSGO isnt that bad, its mostly close combat, but playing Apex was a joke, getting sprayed down from 6miles away by a 1 dot pixel I can barely see!

That’s a really weird one as the player was in front of him but the keeper dived completely out the way and his line of site wasn’t blocked
The problem is that he has to account for the possibility of another redirect. In general, if you're faceguarding the keeper in an offasde position the goal will be disallowed.

That's not the case in hockey, but in hockey if you're in the crease the ref will also look the other way if the goalie beats you with his stick until you go away.

It’s slowly killing the game we love

Yep

Slowly dying for a few years now, but it’s definitely getting worse

Every goal is combed over like a crime scene looking for absolutely anything to chalk it off. The complete opposite to what VAR is there for. It’s there to assist the ref, not be the ref.

What’s the point in knee sliding the length of my living room only to look a tit infront of the missus

Faceguarding is a term I’ve never heard.

I understand why it was given and by the letter of the law it’s probably correct. Just don’t think the offside player’s position affected the keeper’s ability to save the shot as he had line of sight. Obviously if he had dived the right way then he would have been hindered.

I would make three rules changes to accommodate VAR:

1) No offside rule.
2) No "foul in the buildup" rule. If the ref didn't see it, it didn't happen.
3) All possible dives are reviewed and cards are distributed if it's blatant (no contact).

This should improve things.

Faceguarding is an NFL term for trying to block a receiver's view of the ball as a defender without making an attempt to make a play on it.

It's another way of saying "interference" in the context of the offside rule. We invented another term because "interference" generally is understood to mean whaling on the receiver before the arrival of a forward pass.

The shot took 2 deflections, but the Eq player clearly positioned himself in front of the keeper. Some Dutch defender moved up so he would be offside. Dems de rulez.
