But they have a bigger population than all of the teams above them in the rankings so why aren’t they top?
All falling into place now for England...Mbappe a serious doubt now for the semi-final...
You appear to be trying to treat this as a very black and white issue
It's been pointed out multiple times on this thread that it's not purely down to population size
There's going to be diminishing returns on population size
There's also anomalies/relatively brief golden generations from lesser-populated countries
But if you're going to try and deny that the seeds at Euro 2024/Europes' top men's international teams don't very obviously have much larger populations and therefore much larger pools of talent to pick from then I'm not sure there's much more that can be done to help you
Germany 83,294,633 5 - 1 Scotland 5,436,600
France 64,756,584 1 - 0 Austria 9,159,993
Italy 58,870,763 2 - 1 Albania 2,826,242
England 56,550,138 1 - 0 Serbia 6,664,449
Spain 47,519,628 3 - 0 Croatia 3,987,352
Nah mate its just coincidental the teams that compete at the top all have massive populations. They are just really good at football and has nothing to do with having a 50 - 100 times bigger pick of playing pool per million of population.
Faroe Islands 2026, you heard it here first.
Funny thing is if you go back to Euro 92 and World Cup 94, Fifa even had to change the seeding for England because they couldn't qualify, its why they are always in groups with teams with low populations in qualifying and maybe another when wo qualify.
International football now isnt a sport really, its all geared and designed to getting those you can sell the biggest markets Big Macs to getting to tournaments and latter stages, even if the big population teams fail, they just fix the seeding.
I find it fascinating that anyone could even attempt to argue against the population issue
Nevermind so intensely
The same people who probably complain about PSR all day on here too
A level playing field for me but not for thee
Faroe Islands 2026 is definitely on
