Germany's is based on the old Prussia flag apparently.

The Dutch aswell based on the House of Orange
Its kinda ironic, considering its Bavaria that is main football engine of Germany and they never liked Prussians (historically).

Its still running joke in Bavaria and Austria that everything north of them are "stiff" and humorless Prussians

The hotbed of German football is in the Ruhr/Rhine area with Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund, 1. FC Köln, Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Bochum, and Borussia Mönchengladbach in close proximity to each other. Bayern are nouveau riche arrivistes even in Bavaria - though, you're right, they are unquestionably the dominant club.

To be fair, there's not been much of this in reputable sections of the German media. The post-mortem is really focusing on the failings of the DFB, the coach, and the players. VAR is barely mentioned here. Even BILD are going for the jugulars of Bierhoff and Flick rather than VAR...

Also interesting cause historical Prussian heartland is now economically poorest and of course very irrelevant in footballing terms.

Legacy of East Germany and communism

"Where some states have an army, the Prussian army has a state" (always loved that quote in my history class)

Personally, always though the ball had to be touching the line not the curve of the ball overhanging. Have they made up a new rule on the spot to claim they were right or have I been wrong all these years?
As far as im aware thats aways been the rule.

If you notice the majority of Corners taken in this league none of them look like they anywhere near the line, but im not sure if that rule was ever changed.

Was always the rule but for some reason was always understood and enforced wrong.
Only in the last few years has the ball not been in contact with the arc for corners with no change in the rules.

Quite clearly still in play.

It be cool of them to release the footage/justification of all Var decisions including the audio between referees when discussing possible penalties.

“Is it a penalty?”
“No, but it was Ronaldo so we should epically give it.”
“Ok, yes. Penalty.”
